San-O Beach Tip No. 90: Sand Castles

Making good sand castles at San Onofre can be a problem. The sand is rather coarse. Because of that, it doesn't stick together well. We've solved that problem with an additive. It’s natural, biodegradable, and widely available on the beach at San Onofre.

  1. yes, we exclusively use this blend at Four Doors and it works quite well. During extreme high tide conditions, we have even constructed a sea wall from this mixture and it has held. See Spin at Four Doors for the correct mixing ratios.

  7. I thought you can't drink at Sano? Hmmm? Bum food from whoever? I will walk up to Lowers if there's any surf? Damn, that's a long way! No rubber shirts and those cords that ruined surfing either! Hah!

  12. 'From the Hood', honestly, what have you done for our sport of surfing, anyways?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Surfing is not a sport! It is something to do! Period! Subjective don't get it! If you don't beat the clock, cross the line ahead of the other guy or put a score on the board better than the other team, it's not sport. If someone telle you, you did better, fine judges are bias at all times. He has a rep? Crap! I was one of the first pros. Free surfboards way back. Hah

  14. 'In the Water', why do you not put dates when you were the first pro way back when. I don't get it. I was World Champ back in the sixties. I never even heard of you. What's the deal oh' what.

    ReplyDelete
  15. World champ at what? 59 to 61 free surfboards Do you mean contests at Huntington? Not a sport! LOL

  16. 'Head Dip', you seem to live in the past. We all know who the victor was in the first, who won the 2nd HB contest. No fair using GOOGLE.

  17. MIKE HALEY, STUPID. Everyone knows that.

  21. hey, don't forget one of my in-laws, the great Ilima Kalama, he won one of those first ones didn't he? What say you?

  22. Addressing both Anon #7 and
Fats. Good afternoon fellows. Remember, this is the 21st Century. Fats, I on't know, but if he's an in-law, then I agree. Munoz was always a bridesmaid in those things, he's close to 80and still haging in there.

  23. Ilima, outstanding person and great surfer. He did win one of those HB deals. There goes the nieghborhood as many said and it still holds true to this day

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sad but true, the West Coast and all the sponsors still want a white dude to win. Surfing's dirty little secret.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Fats. That is not the reason for there goes! It's about the ruin of surfing with all the contest crap. One of the best ever made the statement and it holds true to this day. We had a small group that knew one another and the contest brought the crowds!

  26. Anon', you must be joking. It was that fantasy movie,
'Gidget' that caused the wnole mess.

    ReplyDelete
  27. S C: Your right with the Gidge, but contests and the so called surf media that followed messed it up big time. So called pro surfing is to blame also. I hope these guys that are so good, save their money? There is allways some one comming up to take it away from them. I'm glad I was there growing up thru high school in the So Bay! No one had it better than we did! Too much fun!
