Happy New Year, but what I would say to the Talegalites is "Happy Trails" (get it) as in Trail 6!!!!

Where were you?
Hey Talegalites where were you this morning? There was surf and a few people in the water so you could have gotten in someones way! How dedicated are you? What your cell phone buddies weren't answering or was it still to stormy for you you Kooks? On second thought, stay away don't come down we don't need you and we most of all don't miss you. If the weather kept you away I hope it rains from now on so that the people who really love surfing (and not because its the IN thing to do) can enjoy themselves without some Kook dropping- in in front of them or running them over because you have no control of your board or your body! If you need to surf go down to Dog-patch and get in the way of the kayakers or the butt-boarders.

Another day at the office (NOT)
When I woke up at about 1:30am this morning I too could not believe how hard it was raining, and the wind was just hooting. So again I slept in (I hope this isn't a sign). For me not to even go to San-O in the morning SUCKS! If it was at least off-shore with rain I would go and look, but when its victory at sea? Maybe in the morning it could change, but this storm looks as if there is no relief for at least a couple of days if not more. Even though I don't surf I still like to watch the waves.

water water everywhere
Didn't go to the office today due to the rain. When I got up I thought of the weekend when puttzle had the whole Point to himself because of the weather, but today the on-shore winds were howling so I went back to bed(what a strange thing it is to sleep in). I'm bummed I didn't even get to play golf today. Got a call from my uncle last night, my brother who I don't speak to anymore had his voice box removed due to cancer but the doctors got it all so he is OK! He can't talk anymore but its just as well because all he did was B.S. people. I am glad he is OK , but I still won't talk to him(to many years of crap). Well maybe the waves will get good in the AM hope the rain keeps those talegalites home for the rest of the winter although we do need a good laugh now and then! And as my alter ego says "COWABUNGA"!!!!!! "PRAY FOR SURF" (are you happy now puttzle you got me hooked)

family on the rocks
We all love to see some pro surfer without a leash lose his or her board at the Point., well this morning was quite a show! This family of 4, mom, dad, sister and brother show up, the kids are in their late teens and the only one that could standup was dad. They hit the water and right off the batt the girl gets caught inside and dad who is half way out turns around and prons in on a set wave to help his daughter and runs her over. Then once she is out side a set comes in and she turns around and takes off in the white water and proceeds to pron right up onto the rocks on her board, we all roared. Then a few minutes later she does the same thing again. Then when the family was getting out , mom, daugther, and son all pron in and run their boards right up onto the rocks, dad was beside himself. Maybe he won't take them surfing again at SanO(we hope)! Best Sunday for laughs yet. To dam cold!!!!!

stop lites at the point
well I got my stoplites fixed when I got home. The #&*^%@! sockets the bulbs plug into were not making good contact with the bulbs so I made some minor adjustments, only after I removed the steering wheel (what a pain) . Keith and his dad followed me down the freeway so I felt safe, I figured if I got pulled over they would drive right on by and giggle and point! Maybe I'll surf in the morning but don't hold your breath!!!!! (well Mike I hope your happy now, I made an entry). Oh! I almost forgot the ragging christmas tree fire. Keith and his dad brought down a small tree that blazed all of about 45 seconds but what a nice blaze of warmth it was. More another time. 'Murphy'

Shopping done
Just finished my Christmas shopping. wal-mart gift cards are happening. 15 minutes in the store and a drive to the post office . On the way home from lihue traffic was outrageous, backed up from wailua bridge all the way through kapaa. Good thing I went into town early and was going home already. Those poor suckers.

The Eddie
From Garden Island/KauaiWorld.com...Twenty-five year-old Hanalei surfer Bruce Irons made his way out of the shadow of world champion brother Andy Wednesday, by winning surfing’s most prestigious big wave event, the Quiksilver In Memory Of Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational held at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of O‘ahu."This is greater than I could ever have imagined," said Irons in an Association of Surfing Professionals press release. "It’s every bit as big as it looked in all the videos and pictures I saw growing up. To ride the biggest waves of my life, to win a contest in the name of Eddie Aikau, a hero we've all grown up with, I don’t know. I just don’t know what to say." Irons pushed the limits way beyond his wildest childhood dreams, tackling waves that exceeded 40 feet in height to finish first in a field of 24 world class big wave riders, including his brother. His victory, in the 20th anniversary Quiksilver Eddie earned him $55,000. He became only the seventh surfer to win the event as it can only run when the surf hits a consistent minimum of 20 feet.
Irons called the surf the biggest waves he had ever ridden.
Irons scored a total of 370 points, out of 400, for his best four rides. And he scored the day's only perfect score of 100 points for a massive wave which he kept riding into the massive Waimea shorebreak, tucking into a huge tube to the delight of about 20,000 spectators gathered at Waimea Bay.
"At first I was thinking oh, oh, oh no, but then I just went, no way, I’m going for it," said Irons. The crowd on the beach was calling out for him to back-off, but erupted into cheers and whistles as he flung his arms high and tackled the 12-foot close out barrel like a head-on car crash.
Irons brother Andy Irons, who wrapped up his third world Association of Surfing Professionals title in Brazil earlier this year, placed fourth in the prestigious event.
Legendary Kaua‘i big wave surfer Titus Kinimaka also made a strong showing in the contest, placing eighth.
