SanO Squirrels Have Rabies
Senator Feinstein's Position The Toll Road
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) responded to a letter asking her to help oppose the TCA's plan to put the Toll Road through San Onofre State Park. The letter gives a brief account of the Toll Road's recent history. Although she "welcomed the opportunity to respond," she does not state a position. The Senator's website is also silent as to the Toll Road. She has a section for "issues of concern" to citizens of California, but she doesn't include the 241 Toll Road.
One must be concerned that Feinstein's failure to speak out against the Toll Road going through San Onofre means that she supports it. I called and spoke to her staff. All I get from a staffer (Cody), after he consults with his superiors, is the evasive answer that the Senator is, "of course" doing her "due diligence on any issue that potentially affects the environment," and "there is no other information available." I see. She needs more time. Thirty years of study, evaluations, hearings, etc. is not enough. Shameful. You can email Senator Feinstein here.

Surfwise Movie Review
All in all this was a pretty interesting film about a very unconventional family. The kids sure had interesting takes on the old man, some very negative. I watched the movie while eating dinner and could have done without seeing the wrinkly old bare butt of the Doc and his take on his sex life, especially the oral. The visual was just too much for me. This is NOT a surf movie so don't expect that. More of an inside look at an unconvetional/dysfunctional family. Go see it.

Beach ban swimmers may face fines
Posted Fri Apr 11, 2008 1:45pm AEST Updated Fri Apr 11, 2008 1:44pm pst
Swimmers could be fined for entering the water at beaches that have been closed after this week's fatal shark attack at San Onofre State Beach
All beaches At San Onofre remain closed after 16-year-old bodyboarder Peter Edmonds was mauled by a shark at the "Point" on Tuesday morning.
Regional lifeguard co-ordinator Douglas Hardone the water is still murky and a large shark has been spotted further north at Trestles surf beach
Mr hardone says warning signs have been erected and people who ignore them risk a fine.
"There's always that possibility [of fines]. It is an absolute last resort," he said.
"Lifeguards have the ability provided to them under the Local Government Act to erect signs and they have the ability to enforce those signs under the act as well and that includes on-the-spot fines."
Mr Edmonds' funeral will be held in San Clemente at Lesnesky, next week.
The San Clemente boy's family has requested there be no media coverage of the service and is asking for its privacy to be respected.
The teenager was bodyboarding about 8:00am (pst) on Tuesday, when a shark bit him twice on the left leg.
Police are planning to recommend Mr Edmond's friend, 16-year-old Brock Curtis-Mathew, for a bravery award for trying to rescue him.
Mr Curtis-Matthew had returned to shore from the popular "Point" surf break, just north of the Old Mans , when he heard his school mate cry out in distress.
He said he saw a large, dark shape in the water but paddled out anyway.
"As I headed toward him, it looked like he was catching a wave and was heading back to shore," he said.
"Then I saw him on his back with his head above the water, then he turned so he was face-down.
"I thought he was only joking, so I went over to him and as I flipped him over, I saw his leg.''
Mr Curtis-Matthew said the water turned red as he saw two large bites on Mr Edmonds' left leg.
He dragged his friend to shore but could not revive him

Craig's List Personal Ad and Reply
THE PERSONAL AD:
What am I doing wrong?
Okay, I'm tired of beating around the bush. I'm a beautiful (spectacularly beautiful) 25 year old girl. I'm articulate and classy.
I'm not from New York . I'm looking to get married to a guy who makes at least half a million a year. I know how that sounds, but keep in mind that a million a year is middle class in New York City, so I don't think I'm overreaching at all.
Are there any guys who make 500K or more on this board? Any wives? Could you send me some tips? I dated a business man who makes average around 200 - 250. But that's where I seem to hit a roadblock. 250,000 won't get me to central park west. I know a woman in my yoga class who was married to an investment banker and lives in Tribeca, and she's not as pretty as I am, nor is she a great genius. So what is she doing right? How do I get to her level?
Here are my questions specifically:
- Where do you single rich men hang out? Give me specifics- bars, restaurants, gyms
-What are you looking for in a mate? Be honest guys, you won't hurt my feelings
-Is there an age range I should be targeting (I'm 25)?
- Why are some of the women living lavish lifestyles on the upper east side so plain? I've seen really 'plain jane' boring types who have nothing to offer married to incredibly wealthy guys. I've seen drop dead gorgeous girls in singles bars in the east village. What's the story there?
- Jobs I should look out for? Everyone knows - lawyer, investment banker, doctor. How much do those guys really make? And where do they hang out? Where do the hedge fund guys hang out?
- How you decide marriage vs. just a girlfriend? I am looking for MARRIAGE ONLY
Please hold your insults - I'm putting myself out there in an honest way. Most beautiful women are superficial; at least I'm being up front about it. I wouldn't be searching for these kind of guys if I wasn't able to match them - in looks, culture, sophistication, and keeping a nice home and hearth.

Sharks: You Decide
The Register had another story on shark attacks at Orange County Beaches yesterday. They give the opinions of three people: A shark expert, a surfer, and a lifeguard at Huntington Beach.
You have your choice of whom to believe:
1. A scientist who has studied sharks for the last 45 years. He formerly worked for the Smithsonian Institute and the Office of Naval Research. He currently is a great white shark expert on the Shark Research Committee. He says that the teeth marks on the surfboard are those of a 16 to 17 foot great white shark. He says that the great white sharks, and other sharks, are in the waters off Orange County beaches. Further, he says "We have to realize our place in nature. We're subject to the animals that live there. For anyone to assume that couldn't happen, they're foolish."
2. The surfer whose surfboard was bitten. He saw a big shark nearby before the attack, but did not see the shark when it bit the back of his surfboard (while he was on it).
3. A lifeguard who is out of a job if no one comes to the beach because of the sharks. Although he just hauled a Mako shark up onto the same beach, he denies that there are great white sharks in the area. He says the only great whites sharks that he ever heard of nearby were three that hung out at San Onofre. The lifeguard seems unaware that the famous great white shark that was kept at the Monterrey Bay Aquarium a few years ago was caught off Huntington Beach and that another great white was caught right off the Huntington Beach pier just two years ago. The Register's article mentions both of these facts.

Anger in mother nature?
Is it possible mother nature has begun to strike back? HELL YES! with the elevated shark attacks and near fatal encounters. Mankind should be ashamed of himself for killing the environment and hurting the oceans. I am glad people are dying at San Onofre and i hope the state closes the beach Forever!
SHARK ATTACKS SURFER OFF SAN ONOFRE
The Associated PressSan Onofre — A woman was attacked by a shark while surfing off Old mans Saturday, authorities said. The 23 year old Andrea Lynch, was bitten on the rib cage and calf and suffered a laceration, said Mayor Murphy. He was carried toward a parking lot by fellow surfers. An ambulance drove the woman, who was "conscious, alert and smiling", to San Clemente Hospital, Murphy said."There was quite a bit of blood, buts he was entered into the trauma center, so I assume he will be fine," Murphy said.Nursing supervisor Dr. Ralph said the surfer's condition was stable and she would be released Saturday night. The noontime attack happened at the popular surfing spot south of San Clemente. Witnesses told Murphy that the shark was a 17-foot great white. He said there were no signs of the shark in the hours after the bite."I think everybody got out of the water," Murphy said. "He didn't get seconds."Murphy, who was been Mayor for years, said it's the Ninth shark attack at San Onofre this spring. He said a more severe shark attack happened off Dogpatch Beach a few hundred yards south, last winter. Overall... shark attacks have been on the increase
