Here is a page from the latest book I'm reading. The only problem is I don't understand any of it. Since most of the readers to this blog are highly educated, perhaps you can help translate?

It's the story, written in Aboriganese, of an Australian practice known as "Spit the winkle." It was originated by the aboriginal peoples and passed on to the migrating europeans and is shown here in the illustration.

It's a warning about consuming food or drink after the expiration date on the label (as depicted on the left, the labels are expiration dates) and the consequences of ignoring the warning (on the right).
