So shall we, Whorecliff's is a loser, as a matter of fact those residents will not give you the time of day. So, they need something, now they want your help.
Why do those residents not vote to ammend the CC&R's. I tell you, they don't understand Conditions, Covenants, and Resrictions. Do you? Well, yes or no. I didn't think so.
Its evident that you people that are so bitter about the shorecliff issue and want a no vote you must be contractors and all you care about is making money and not how other peoples lives are effected, or their right to their ocean views. The residents of Shorecliffs did vote, and it was overwelming to preserve the views. (read the article before you make a stupid comment about a voting) Shorecliff residents are in no-way snobs, you must be thinking of the Talegalites or those Ole Hansen A H's! Besides this issue should not have even gone to the city for a vote, CAN'T YOU NUMBNUTS READ? Shorecliffs was built in 1963, it was a retirement community so the're where no station wagons ruining anything, they were people over 65 who made Shorecliffs more laidback than the city itself! Get your facts before you open your mouth. You proably don't even live in this city, DO YOU! Ignorance breeds problems!
Vote Yes, I was here as a resident of San Clemente since the 50's and I'm affraid Ole is right. There were more families then retirees. We used to hike where your precious view is. Kind hypocritcal of you newcomers to be critical of Talegalites, don't you think?
Hey I got mine and now i am going to make sure everyone else gets theirs. america was built on perserverance andsweat equity. Don't try to control rich people like me with your stupid ballot propositions, i will rule the earth and people like me will marry yuor daughters
Did Shorecliffs when it was built take away the quit from this city? NO! Did all the little shops on Del Mar change to High Dollar shops and eateries? NO! Is shorecliffs trying to turn our quit city into the next Corona del Mar? HELL NO! THAT my friend is whats happening since Talega was built. I'm not blaming the Talegalites, I blame money hungry developers who could care less about people let alone people in Orange County! They my friend are all the large developers from Los Angeles County! Oceanside has its retirement communities, and the have not been hurt by them until the big companies started buying up land. You can't blame the residents of Shorecliffs for wanting the peace of looking at the ocean, not at the neighbor accross the street when the view is what the came here and paid for. No its ok for someone to come in and be selfish enough to block their neighbors view just because they want a better view than they all ready have?
San Clemente is a hick town. Think about it: "Little Spanish Villige by the Sea", get real for Lord's sake. San Clemente's sister city is El Monte, what do you expect "Montebello by the Coast".
I am a Shorecliffs resident, and my mother and father started bringing me here to San Clemente in the mid 1940's, so I do know, and I don't read about it, I see it first hand! By the way, if San Clemente is a hick town, then stay the hell away you have no reason come here then do you? Unless your a hick yourself!
Shorecliffs didn't want the whole world, or have the whole city of San Clemente involved in their fight. RICK COLLINS DID! He has built his 2-story home in shorecliffs so why does he care about the height limit unless he stands to make money from a no vote. Think about it. He got to build up because of weak wording in the shorecliffs CC&R and all they want is to preserve their ocean views. Is that so wrong?
Vote Yes, you are either on the City Council or work at the Chamber of Comerace. Well which one? BTW, I am a full-blown hick, and darn proud of it. FYI, spell check broke thi morning.
I have a better idea for vacations for these inlanders, go vacation in mexico, hell it should be nice and quite there, they've all come to the USA sneaking accross our border.
Really, vote no. It's a CC&R issue. Leave it to them alone, not the whole city. If the CC&Rs were loosely worded, then that's what they bought into. If they don't want to amend the CC&Rs, then too bad. Leave me and the rest of the city voters out of it.
Thats what the residents of Shorecliffs wanted to do, leave the rest of the city out of it but, that rick collins AH is the one that took it to the city. You should be pissed at him and not the families in Shorecliffs! We had a vote because of him and he lost so, HE took it to the city counsel not the residents! He pettioned for the city to vote not the Shorecliffs residents. And there are areas in Shorecliffs you can still go up 25' that do not block views. I know because I'm in one of those zones! So its not like we are trying to block all 2 story additons, only those that take away ocean views from those who have them.
Hey vote no! Get some glasses and read the article! If you can't read get someone to read it to you! It should never have gone to the city in the first place and thats what the residents are saying. They voted to amend the CC&R overwhelmingly but that RC guy didn't like the out come! Blame him! If you don't like the fact that you are asked to vote on this matter, then come june please don't vote at all, please don't just vote no because you feel upset about being forced to vote on it because of some a_s Hole, because your not, just don't vote!
Really, vote NO. It's a CC&R issue. Leave it to them alone, not the whole city. If the CC&Rs were loosely worded, then that's what they bought into. If they don't want to amend the CC&Rs, then too bad. Leave me and the rest of the city voters out of it.
IT'S NOT MY JOB TO RAISE YOUR PROPERTY VALUES BY RESTRICTING BUILDING HEIGHTS, ETC. IN YOUR AREA ALONE.
CC&Rs have existed since before Christ Our Lord was born. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR A BUNCH Of CRYING THAT YOUR CC&Rs AREN'T LIKE THE "NEW MODERN ONES." Boo-hoo. Adopt new ones yourselves, run that AH out of "your" precious Shorecliffs on a rail or whatever, but when you want me to pass a law the gives special protection to just your homes and just your ocean views, I say NO F**KING WAY!
Just don't vote at all. If you vote no you are taking sides on the issue, just as if you voted yes your still taking sides. So instead of taking either side, JUST DON'T VOTE on the issue. Its your right not to vote, this is America. Let me ask you this, are you one of the people who signed the pettion to put it on the ballet? If you are, you have already taken sides.
Vote no. That is the only way to put an end to it. If you vote yes, the issue will be back on the ballot again and again at $58,000.00 in extra city funds spent per election.
I will definitely vote in favor of this ordinance. I live in Harbor Estates and our CC&R's are no longer around. If this passes, I have a better chance of getting view protection for my home as do my good friends in Southwest San Clemente.
Please vote YES. I would like Shorecliffs to be a designated retirement community. I don't need a second floor anymore, my hip hurts and I can't get up the stairs. My kids are grown and I don't need a large home. Plus I definitely don't want anyone in my view.
For over 40 years neighbors have been considerate towards each other and respected one another's investment and beautiful view's in Shorecliffs.
In Laguna Beach they understand how important a view is and protect everyones!!!! That is why the property value's remain very high for ALL of Laguna!!
I love it that people are improving their homes in Shorecliffs...I don't even mind second stories AS LONG AS THEY DO NOT TAKE AWAY THE VIEW OF ANOTHER HOME!!!!
I am disgusted by Rick Collins blog it shows his true intention's...GREED !!! and he does not seem to care about anyone else but himself.
Rick it is not about money it a about respecting your neighbor and their investment. You inturn would have recieved respect and in the long run this will protect your view and investment as well.
If anyone so desperatly need's a second story why not build down...your neighbors will then not loose their view and hunderds of thousands of $$$$ in equity ..everyone happy!!It seems to work for Laguna and many other view friendly cities and towns!!
Some homes are not selling in Shorecliffs, I've heard that some buyer's are fearful they will loose their view which they are paying for, if a hugh second story will be built right in front of them... I don't blame 'em, but do blame Rick Collins and his supporters for this mess.
Those who have built gorgeous, beautiful one story homes. THANK YOU!! YOU HAVE STYLE AND INTEGRITY !!

Shorecliffs was the Talega of the 60's. All of them yuppies with their giant station wagons ruining laidback San Clemente

Let me ask these questions.

Vote Yes, don't believe anything you read and only half of what you see.
Unless you live in a beach community, your all " Hicks-From-The-Sticks"! Don't come and vacation in our hick town, go vacation at a dairy in Chino!

Travel Agent, you should be ashamed of youself for your bigoted remarks.
I don't care for the City Counsel or Chamber of Commerce, I just want to surf.
And what do the CC&R's say about Dave Wert's 27 cars parked in front of his house?
How petty can you get, talking about some guy with cars. As long as they are insured and registered who cares! Are they blocking your ocean view?
Dave lives next to the freeway, doesn't have an ocean view and it's more like four or five cars.
"Guess what", DAVE LIVES BESIDE THE FREEWAY, ALRIGHT, SADLY IT'S LOCATED IN THAT DISGUSTING SHORECLIFFS.
Opai lived in Shorecliffs???????

Yes Opai lived in shore cliffs. And now his son lives in the very same house.
'LAST ANONYMOUS', how do know all this stuff, snyways?
Whats the matter anonymous? Because werts dad leaves him a house in shorecliffs you come down on the man! You need to get a life!
Why all this other crap! Its about a CC&R, not bad mouthing San Clemente residents!
He's right!

Reading through all of this is like sitting around and pulling nose hairs out. It hurts like hell but you need to do it.
