Watch out Talegalites, tomorrow we come out firing!

Happy New Year, but what I would say to the Talegalites is "Happy Trails" (get it) as in Trail 6!!!!

Ooohhhh My!

It seems the Talegalites have spoken...and they seem upset! I can't believe that one of them actually THINKS, and that they have come up with the very clever 909 comment. It must be the schools out there...

By the way 'Anonymous-e', have you read this ?

According to this you believe it?

Eve Of The New Year

Things were ugly this morning. The wind was all over the place, I went down to San-O and didn't even check out the surf. When I arrived, Dingo, Dingo's man-person Craig, the Mayor and Ralph had already done the checking. The report was the Mayor's usual 'doom and gloom'...too small, too bumpy, too crowded, too ???? (it's always "too something" ). At this point, I would still have walked down for a look, but then Joe drove up. I knew he would, as always in his shorts and flip-flops, go look at the surf. Now Joe goes out in conditions that I would not bother with (more power to him), so if he looks, comes back, gets in his car and leaves, I know it's total crap! I hob-nobbed with da boyz for a few, and then left and am now at work.

I got an email from one of the regulars who told me that he went out around 8 yesterday morning and had a fun time. It seems that if the lower gate is closed, most of the lame "talegalites" are too lazy to hump their butts down to the surf. Maybe we should start a shuttle service for them...or not.

More later.

Where were you?

Hey Talegalites where were you this morning? There was surf and a few people in the water so you could have gotten in someones way! How dedicated are you? What your cell phone buddies weren't answering or was it still to stormy for you you Kooks? On second thought, stay away don't come down we don't need you and we most of all don't miss you. If the weather kept you away I hope it rains from now on so that the people who really love surfing (and not because its the IN thing to do) can enjoy themselves without some Kook dropping- in in front of them or running them over because you have no control of your board or your body! If you need to surf go down to Dog-patch and get in the way of the kayakers or the butt-boarders.

Must Read For Surfers (Are You From Talega?)

My newly made friend Whiffleboy has a great post on his blog.

It's Hard To Be Upbeat

With this kind of catastrophe going on.

Thursday Blues

I actually got up and went to look at the surf this morning. Wind was offshore but not completely, kind of a side-offshore if you know what I mean. Holding up the lefts and knocking down the rights. At least, that's what it looked like in the wee hours. Pow-wowwed (sorry mom if I misspelled this) with the Mayor, Ralph and Joe for a few then hit the road to home, a shower and now work. There were occasional sprinkles and the forecast is for that to continue. Good day to work. I'll post more through the day. Aloha for now.

Another day at the office (NOT)

When I woke up at about 1:30am this morning I too could not believe how hard it was raining, and the wind was just hooting. So again I slept in (I hope this isn't a sign). For me not to even go to San-O in the morning SUCKS! If it was at least off-shore with rain I would go and look, but when its victory at sea? Maybe in the morning it could change, but this storm looks as if there is no relief for at least a couple of days if not more. Even though I don't surf I still like to watch the waves.

Check Out Avery Ant...

and his one minute rants.

I Heard On The News

Some talking head had this to say about that, "Those people at the UN need to do two things...1. Think before they speak, and 2. Just keep their mouths shut and don't say anything. Hear-hear (is that better mom?). People around the world should look at what we do for peoples around this planet. We are not all bad...

Now That's Rain!

I cannot believe how hard it rained and how hard the wind blew last night, or more correctly, this morning. I did not go to check the surf, what's the use? It's got to be 'victory at sea' kind of conditions, maybe the mayor checked it and will report. They say, those newspeople, that the worst is yet to come rain-wise, which I find hard to believe.

I just found out, unless my co-worker is messing with me, that we have Monday off, not Friday. That is fine with me, the kiddies will be back in school and maybe the surf will be good with sunny skies and warm air. Oh wait, that was my dream last night.

I'm having trouble posting pictures, sorry for the babysitting delay. Lates...

Man Burns Down Home Over No Gifts

No, it was not I (another mom correction).

I'd Move To Canada

If this happens.

water water everywhere

Didn't go to the office today due to the rain. When I got up I thought of the weekend when puttzle had the whole Point to himself because of the weather, but today the on-shore winds were howling so I went back to bed(what a strange thing it is to sleep in). I'm bummed I didn't even get to play golf today. Got a call from my uncle last night, my brother who I don't speak to anymore had his voice box removed due to cancer but the doctors got it all so he is OK! He can't talk anymore but its just as well because all he did was B.S. people. I am glad he is OK , but I still won't talk to him(to many years of crap). Well maybe the waves will get good in the AM hope the rain keeps those talegalites home for the rest of the winter although we do need a good laugh now and then! And as my alter ego says "COWABUNGA"!!!!!! "PRAY FOR SURF" (are you happy now puttzle you got me hooked)

An Unusual Day

With the wind and rain today, I figured it would be a lousy morning, not one for surfing. I could have been wrong. Awhile back, I wasn't.

Sunday morning, about a month or so ago, it's raining the proverbial cats and dogs and it's freezing outside. I mean it is cold! The wind is howling...but it's straight OFFSHORE! I'm at San-O at 5:45, waiting for someone to open the upper gate. Nobody else is around. I know they will not open the lower gate, I'm cool with that, I just want to get a look see and head home to get warm, because it is very cold for our area. The rangers (2 of them) show up about 2 minutes later, look at me like I'm nuts, open the gate and head down to close the lower one. I follow. We get to the parking area and they stop and close the gate. That gate is so rusty that it took three of us to close it. Off they go and walking in the freezing rain I go.

I get around the corner and see...pretty damn good looking 3-4 foot San-O. I run a bit further down the road to confirm and damn, it's really looking good! I run back to my van and sit for a minute, freezing my butt off. Nobody is around, it's just getting time to be able to see and I am going nuts!

I run down to the corner, thinking it's not as good as I think. It looks better! I run back to the van, I run around to the back of the van, throw open the doors, grab my wetsuit, booties and gloves, and slam the doors shut. It's absolutely pouring...and freezing! I run around the side and throw open the door, jump in and wiggle into my ensemble. I get dressed, jump back out and run back to the rear to get my board. Ah shit, I need to put my fin in. I do that, still nobody is around, and I'm freaking...and freezing.

What to do, what to do. My freezing brain tells me to call someone, anyone and tell them to get down here. I think of the mayor, but since he isn't here and never seems to have his cellphone turned on, instead I called the brother-in-law. The sister answered, it's 6 in the a.m., she sounds none too happy. "Tell Jim to get his butt down here NOW, it's good and there is nobody here!". Uhh-huh, I hear, then click. I'm not optimistic that he will show.

Finally, someone drives up. One guy and he sits in his car and pulls out the newspaper. I run down to the corner and look at the surf again. I run back to the guy who had arrived and say, "It's unreal, nobody around, get going!" "Uhh-ok" he yawns. I'm back at the van in a flash, I grab my board and I am GONE! I run down to the point, blown away by the surf, paddle out and have some fun BY MYSELF. I see faces pop around the corner, but nobody comes down the road.

After about 30-45 minutes, a couple of guys makes their way down and they have boards! I'm dying to share the waves with someone else. Then, lo and behold, I see Jim coming. Yahoooo. Out he paddles. In all HIS excitement, he forgot his leash in his car. Here are the four of us having some of the times of our lives. It was awesome, the rain was pounding, blown sideways in the howling offshore, it cut like razors. I actually think it was sleeting. From the look of the mountains the next day, you could see the elevation of the snow was down to about a thousand feet.

After about and hour and a half, I ran up to the van to get Jim's leash and take a short break. The lot was full, people everywhere. I spoke to the mayor and da chewster and some other people telling them that the waves were very fine and they should head on out. The mayor did not have his board, da chewster the time. For some reason, after I returned to the waves, no more than 3 or 4 additional guys came down. For three+ hours, I surfed San-O in excellent (not epic) conditions with no more than 7 other guys at one time...and they all played very nicely together, just like it should be.

Turns out it was the brother-in-laws birthday, so I figured that served as his present.

I hope today wasn't one of those days...

It's Raining, It's Pouring

I stayed in bed a little later than usual due to the fact it was windy and rainy outside and I don't think I will miss much. I came to work a good hour earlier than normal and now will be able to leave and hour earlier than normal. Oh joy.

TOTD is...TOTD. It's getting constricting. When I began the TOTD (Topic of the Day), I figured that there would be a subject that the crew would focus on and I could talk about it here. Not happening. Most mornings, it's the mayor and myself, our conversations move wildly all over the place, but weather permitting, mostly center on satellite spotting. Our heads are affixed skyward in search of those little buggers. On the weekends, I stay longer and there are more people, though none as interesting as the mayor...well, maybe one or two...three? I think from now on, the TOTD will be a weekend, Talega kind of thing.

Not That There's Anything Wrong With It

Researchers have too much time on their hands.

I just realized that I forgot to put the last picture in the series "Why men should never babysit". I'll do it later when I get home. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Good Morning All

It was a dark and dreary morning, you know the story. South wind, small surf, the storm she is a comin'. No rain yet, but it's getting uglier by the minute.

TOTD is...Technology. Isn't it grand? Murphy shows up with his new iPod beaming like a kid (he does that a lot, we're not sure why.) Pretty neat, it holds thousands of songs and can even be used with the car stereo. All in a thing about the size of a credit card, except a little thicker. It's moving at a blazing pace, is technology. We will see many more changes in the coming few years. On that note, hello to my mom, she has joined the computer age, finally, and I'm glad. Now if I can get my father to do the same...

family on the rocks

We all love to see some pro surfer without a leash lose his or her board at the Point., well this morning was quite a show! This family of 4, mom, dad, sister and brother show up, the kids are in their late teens and the only one that could standup was dad. They hit the water and right off the batt the girl gets caught inside and dad who is half way out turns around and prons in on a set wave to help his daughter and runs her over. Then once she is out side a set comes in and she turns around and takes off in the white water and proceeds to pron right up onto the rocks on her board, we all roared. Then a few minutes later she does the same thing again. Then when the family was getting out , mom, daugther, and son all pron in and run their boards right up onto the rocks, dad was beside himself. Maybe he won't take them surfing again at SanO(we hope)! Best Sunday for laughs yet. To dam cold!!!!!

Sunday Services

Surf was ok this morning, check out the pic of Jim below. Weather is getting ready to turn for the worse, think it's football today. Gonna stay warm and watch the Chargers and the Colts, go Bolts.

Well, as you can see, all three members are now posting. Isn't that wonderful?

stop lites at the point

well I got my stoplites fixed when I got home. The #&*^%@! sockets the bulbs plug into were not making good contact with the bulbs so I made some minor adjustments, only after I removed the steering wheel (what a pain) . Keith and his dad followed me down the freeway so I felt safe, I figured if I got pulled over they would drive right on by and giggle and point! Maybe I'll surf in the morning but don't hold your breath!!!!! (well Mike I hope your happy now, I made an entry). Oh! I almost forgot the ragging christmas tree fire. Keith and his dad brought down a small tree that blazed all of about 45 seconds but what a nice blaze of warmth it was. More another time. 'Murphy'

Merger Announced

Continuing the current trend of large-scale mergers and acquisitions, it was announced today at a press conference that Christmas and Hanukkah will merge. An industry source said that the deal had been in the works for about 1300 years. While details were not available at press time, it is believed that the overhead cost of having twelve days of Christmas and eight days of Hanukkah was becoming prohibitive for both sides. By combining forces, we are told, the world will be able to enjoy consistently high-quality service during the Fifteen Days of Chrismukah, as the new holiday is being called. Massive layoffs are expected, with lords a-leaping and maids a-milking being the hardest hit.

As part of the conditions of the agreement, the letters on the dreydl, currently in Hebrew, will be replaced by Latin, thus becoming unintelligible to a wider audience. Also, instead of translating to "A great miracle happened there," the message on the dreydl will be the more generic "Miraculous stuff happens." In exchange, it is believed that Jews will be allowed to use Santa Claus and his vast merchandising resources for buying and delivering their gifts. One of the sticking points holding up the agreement for at least three hundred years was the question of whether Jewish children could leave milk and cookies for Santa even after having eaten meat for dinner. A breakthrough came last year, when Oreos were finally declared to be Kosher. All sides appeared happy about this.

A spokesman for Christmas, Inc., declined to say whether a takeover of Kwanzaa might not be in the works as well. He merely pointed out that, were it not for the independent existence of Kwanzaa, the merger between Christmas and Chanukah might indeed be seen as an unfair cornering of the holiday market. Fortunately for all concerned, he said, Kwanzaa will help to maintain the competitive balance. He then closed the press conference by leading all present in a rousing rendition of "Oy Vey, All Ye Faithful."

Why Men Should NEVER Babysit

Fourth in the series...

Mele Kalikimaka!

The K man having fun on Christmas morning. Nice conditions, surf about 1-3 with occasional bigger set, but man is it inconsistent...and COLD! Small crowd to start the day. Satellite count was 8.

TOTD is...none today as it's Christmas and I don't feel like it. I may update later, we shall see, won't we.

Morning Has Broken

Nice day, once again. Satellite count: 8. We also observed a meteor burning up in the atmosphere, quite a sight. You could see the vapor trail for a few minutes after it burned up. Surf was small (1-3, occasionally bigger), but looks to be building and will improve with the lower tide. Wind is offshore and looks to stay that way.

TOTD is...BloggerBot, which is the program is use to upload my pics to this blog and the photo blog. It's not working this morning. I actually have a pic or two to post and will do so once BloggerBot is back up and running.

Like the Larster said, Wal-Mart gift cards are da bomb! Shopping is done, I'm a happy guy.

I guess I also should be happy for the price I paid today for gas, $1.99. I'm not though. That's how they planned it, jack the price way up, then when it's lowered to around $2 a gallon the masses will be happy! What a joke.

Hot time in the old town.

Another Beautiful Day On The Way

Not much to report this morning. Surf looked small (1-3) and the tide seemed to be messing with it. Maybe when the tide drops. Satellite count was a robust 11! I must get to work and try and get all my sh*t done and maybe I can cut out early and start my Christmas shopping.

TOTD is...leave me alone, I got work to do.

Now That's Original

This morning was a bit hazy, so the satellite count was only 1 (thanks K). Surf looked small, could be fun once the sun comes up. We are supposed to have nice offshore conditions, last I heard. Good day for the kiddies.

TOTD Gosh how I hate it! To old for this. In that vein, I give you whack your boss. Have fun. However, DO NOT let it install the thing it tries to (it's spyware). Say NO and then you can whack away.

'Twas The Night Before Christmas (Politically Correct Version)

'Twas the night before Christmas and Santa's a wreck...
How to live in a world that's politically correct?
His workers no longer would answer to "Elves".
"Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves.
And labor conditions at the north pole
Were alleged by the union to stifle the soul.
Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety,
Released to the wilds by the Humane Society.
And equal employment had made it quite clear
That Santa had better not use just reindeer.
So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid,
Were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!
The runners had been removed from his sleigh;
The ruts were termed dangerous by the E.P.A.
And people had started to call for the cops
When they heard sled noises on their roof-tops.
Second-hand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened.
His fur trimmed red suit was called "Unenlightened."
And to show you the strangeness of life's ebbs and flows,
Rudolf was suing over unauthorized use of his nose
And had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation,
Demanding millions in over-due compensation.
So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife,
Who suddenly said she'd enough of this life,
Joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz,
Demanding from now on her title was Ms.
And as for the gifts, why, he'd ne'er had a notion
That making a choice could cause so much commotion.
Nothing of leather, nothing of fur,
Which meant nothing for him.
And nothing for her.
Nothing that might be construed to pollute.
Nothing to aim.
Nothing to shoot.
Nothing that clamored or made lots of noise.
Nothing for just girls.
Or just for the boys.
Nothing that claimed to be gender specific.
Nothing that's warlike or non-pacific.
No candy or sweets... they were bad for the tooth.
Nothing that seemed to embellish a truth.
And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden,
Were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden.
For they raised the hackles of those psychological
Who claimed the only good gift was one ecological.
No baseball, no football... someone could get hurt;
Besides, playing sports exposed kids to dirt.
Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe;
And Nintendo would rot your entire brain away.
So Santa just stood there, disheveled, perplexed;
He just could not figure out what to do next.
He tried to be merry, tried to be gay, you've got to be careful with that word today.
His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground;
Nothing fully acceptable was to be found.
Something special was needed, a gift that he might
Give to all without angering the left or the right.
A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision,
Each group of people, every religion;
Every ethnicity, every hue,
Everyone, everywhere... even you.
So here is that gift, it's price beyond worth...
"May you and your loved ones enjoy peace on earth."

X Minus 4

Surf was crap! Wind was all wrong. Cloudy as well, with some lightening early. Not much doing at the beach, I left early to hit the job. I was greeted at work this morning with an email from my boss that included a link to a web site. On the site we (the team I work on) were informed that a donation was made, in each of our names, to an organization that will be building a school in Africa. What a beautiful gesture!

TOTD is...4 more shopping days until Christmas. I think I may start my shopping today.

Just finished my Christmas shopping. wal-mart gift cards are happening. 15 minutes in the store and a drive to the post office . Monday Morning...Again.

Not much to report surf wise. Looked like it could be fun and a lot like it's been for the last few days. Waist, maybe chest high on the better sets. Nice conditions. Schools out and I'll bet it will be a zoo. Satellite count was 4 or 5, I'm not sure.

Monday is here, no X-Mas shopping done or even started yet. It's still early.

TOTD is...the Chargers, again. How about that game yesterday. Snowing and blowing and they ground out a nice win. Clinched a playoff spot to boot. I was not impressed by Indianapolis or Pittsburgh, I like the Bolts chances, except then there's the Patriots. Big hurdle.

Aloha for now.

Da Chewster! Photo taken 12.19.2004. Notice the lughead hopping...

Typical weekend taken 12.19.2004

Another Beautiful Day

Let's start out with the satellite count: 4. I want to acknowledge the school teacher that I railed about yesterday. He actually apologized. I like that, shows a lot of class (no pun intended). It still doesn't make it right, but I can live with it. There are still a few to go (IME).

As for the surf, it was fun again. Got a few nice rides and saw a few nice rides. That damn Jimmy was getting all the good ones because they were coming straight to him! It was like he was magnetized. So much so that at one point, I looked over to where he was and he was the only one around the Bar. I looked away for a couple of minutes, looked back and there were like 6 other lugheads horning in on his spot. Bunch of losers (not you Jimmy).

TOTD is...the Chargers. Hope they win today, I think they clinch if they do. Later.

Time Waster

Got a few minutes to spare? Create a Santa or play in the yellow snow...

It's Che-cone!

They came out crappy. However, I put one of them on my new photoblog, as well as a few others. I will add stuff to the photoblog as I get around to it. I need to scan in some old pictures and then I'll put up more.

I'm coming armed tomorrow.

&*%$#@ Assholes

I am pissed. I'm so tired of people hopping me at the freakin' Point! Here I am, buzzing along on one of the mornings' better waves, and waaayyyy down on the shoulder are the usual lame-o suspects who proceed to hop me! I would have made the damn wave if FOUR assholes hadn't jumped MY WAVE! That's right, MY WAVE!!!! I don't know what these idiots are thinking. It was that school teacher and the world famous IME and a couple of others who I didn't have the time to focus on. What the fark, have a little respect for others, guys. Paddle out to the peak and catch them from the right place. Who the heck does spinners anymore anyhow (somebody stuck in the 60's?). Teacher, get some style, doh-dee-doh-dee-doh-dee-doh...

TOTD is...see above.

I took a few shots of San-O and a couple of Lowers and will attempt to post them a bit later. There's a contest going on at Church, Trestles is firing and San-O is not too shabby...except for the lugheads. Offshore winds, get out there people! Oh yeah, satellite count: 6.

It's creepy.

Yup, that's right, it's me. Honolua, circa 1975.

Yahooooooo. It's Friday. Actually, this is not the best thing because I have to have my project done today or I will have to come in to work tomorrow. Surf was once again small, tide low, morning absolutely gorgeous. We counted 6 satellites. Also saw many shooters, looks like remnants from Geminid.

TOTD...the Dodgers. I'm a life-long fan. First this...Bye, Bye Beltre...then this...Bye, Bye Shawn and Friends. Talk about dumping salary and gutting a team! For what in return? At least when the Lakers dumped cry-baby Shag, they got some value in return. It's unreal what the new ownership is doing. Letting Adrian go is inexcusable, these guys are as lame as the ownership that offed Piazza. Late.

The Eddie

From Garden Island/ year-old Hanalei surfer Bruce Irons made his way out of the shadow of world champion brother Andy Wednesday, by winning surfing’s most prestigious big wave event, the Quiksilver In Memory Of Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational held at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of O‘ahu."This is greater than I could ever have imagined," said Irons in an Association of Surfing Professionals press release. "It’s every bit as big as it looked in all the videos and pictures I saw growing up. To ride the biggest waves of my life, to win a contest in the name of Eddie Aikau, a hero we've all grown up with, I don’t know. I just don’t know what to say." Irons pushed the limits way beyond his wildest childhood dreams, tackling waves that exceeded 40 feet in height to finish first in a field of 24 world class big wave riders, including his brother. His victory, in the 20th anniversary Quiksilver Eddie earned him $55,000. He became only the seventh surfer to win the event as it can only run when the surf hits a consistent minimum of 20 feet.

Irons called the surf the biggest waves he had ever ridden.

Irons scored a total of 370 points, out of 400, for his best four rides. And he scored the day's only perfect score of 100 points for a massive wave which he kept riding into the massive Waimea shorebreak, tucking into a huge tube to the delight of about 20,000 spectators gathered at Waimea Bay.

"At first I was thinking oh, oh, oh no, but then I just went, no way, I’m going for it," said Irons. The crowd on the beach was calling out for him to back-off, but erupted into cheers and whistles as he flung his arms high and tackled the 12-foot close out barrel like a head-on car crash.

Irons brother Andy Irons, who wrapped up his third world Association of Surfing Professionals title in Brazil earlier this year, placed fourth in the prestigious event.

Legendary Kaua‘i big wave surfer Titus Kinimaka also made a strong showing in the contest, placing eighth.

Find Cheap Gas

This site lists gas stations in OC and their current price for gas.

Check out the Hawaiian Water Shots link. Old friend JB snaps away and posts surf reports with pics.

Here I am, sitting at my office 'puter, earlier than usual. Surf looked real small, hopefully it will pick up with the tide. Looks like we may have something coming through in the morning...but with it, they are calling for very strong offshore winds. So with a little luck and a nice heavy longboard, a person could have some fun. We shall see. Satellite count: 1, but I left early. Walter opened the gate a bit earlier you see. Maybe Murphy will update the count.

TOTD is...large "status symbol" vehicles. Here I am, on my way to work. It seems like every signal turns red on me. Why? Those big ole SUVs and trucks that you need a ladder to get into. When they turn onto the street I am traveling on, going in my direction, they swing into the left hand turn lane on the street they are turning from and trip the signal. Time after time after time. To boot, they are probably talking on the phone.

The 2004 Geminid Meteor Shower

Meteor Shower

The annual gemenis meteor shower was at its peak last night. I was inside trying to stay warn so I didn't see any. maybe next year . mark your calendar.

Another Day

Kind of like yesterday, sucks. Surf looked smallish due to the lowish tide, did my usual quick scan and left. The mayor and I did catch sight of 8 satellites and about as many shooters. There has to be some kind of meteor shower going on. I'll have to check out the Heavens Above site.

TOTD is Talega and how it has affected the number and type of people coming to San-O to surf, or as is often the case, flounder. Need I say more? Related to yesterday's TOTD. It's an obsession. As I mentioned yesterday, the vast majority of surfers on the weekend are KOOKS. The downside of this is that some guys who can really surf stay out of the water. That stinks! I like to see decent surfing once in a while. I like to surf with my friends and share waves once in a while. Is that asking too much? I must admit that the comic relief provided by the weekenders is invigorating.

Hawaiian Eye

The national weather service is calling for surf of 30 to 50!! ft
on tues in Hawaii. as long as I have lived here I have never heard them predict surf up to 50 ft. could be hype but nun the less it will be big!!! I think I will watch from shore .

China Awaits Crowning of Miss Plastic Surgery

Monday Blues

Damn, I think I have the 'Monday Blues' and that sucks! Surf looked small in the dark, I left ASAP and headed for work, where I am now sitting. Work sucks! I'm doing a contract job and the pay is less than half of what I used to make. I can't complain too much since at least I have a job, but it is very irritating nonetheless to get crap pay for technical work.

The TOTD (Topic Of The Day) at the beach was...Kooks! That seems to be the TOTD quite often. Observations were made regarding the amount of kooks showing up. Easily 95% (SERIOUSLY!) of the people out on the weekends are kooks and have no business being in the water at the Point. Weekdays it's a lot lower, thankfully, but it seems like the only surf lately has been on, you guessed it, the weekend. Sucks, which is my personal TOTD.

Morning was foggy, as was my brain, Surf was ok, I went out for a short session and caught a few decent waves. I don't stay out for long, I get frustrated quickly the older I get. I actually caught 3 waves, got hopped on 2 of them and decided warmth, home and football sounded better. Hope for a better tomorrow...

A beautiful morning and a gorgeous day! We observed 5 satellites, including the space station. I actually went in the water this morning, caught a total of about 4 waves, only 1 of which I was content with...even if I did have to "share" it with someone else...and that someone else (who shall remain nameless) didn't appreciate it. Fact is, he hopped me! Oh well, life at San-O is like that.

Feels like the water temp has gone up a few degrees since last weekend, my toes stayed unfrozen. That is my gauge, my toes. If they numb up, it's definitely COLD!

BTW, if anyone is interested in satellites and viewing them, click here . Great site for info. Laters.

I am a BAD American

I Am Your Worst Nightmare. I am a BAD American. I am George Carlin.

  • I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some mid level governmental functionary be it Democratic or Republican!
  • I'm in touch with my feelings and I like it that way, damn it!
  • I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer, it makes you a smart American.
  • I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything.
  • I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, try to do it in English.· I think fireworks should be legal on the 4th of July.]
  • I think that being a student doesn't give you any more enlightenment than working at Blockbuster. In fact, if your parents are footing the bill to put your pansy ass through 4 years plus of college, you haven't begun to be enlightened.
  • I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to.
  • My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, and whoever canceled Jerry Springer.
  • I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor.
  • I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time arguing about it.
  • I think global warming is a big lie. Where are all those experts now, when I'm freezing my ass off during these long winters and paying, paying, paying?
  • I've never owned a slave, or was a slave, I didn't wander forty years In the desert after getting chased out of Egypt. I haven't burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So, shut-the-Hell-up already.
  • I want to know which church is it exactly where the Reverend Jesse Jackson practices, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution. Can I get an AMEN on that one?
  • I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry ass if you're running from them.
  • I also think they have the right to pull your ass over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are.
  • I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years.
  • I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me crap or trying to guilt me into making "donations" to their cause. These people should be targets.
  • I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents.
  • And what the hell is going on with gas prices... again?

If this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I'm a BAD American.

We need our country back!

Oh yeah, it's Friday. Surf looked OK this morning, but I just didn't feel it was that good. Needless to say, I stayed out of the water. Conditions looked good but the tide was messing with things, and it was still coming up. Satellite count: 8, if I remember correctly. Late.

Thursday, December 09, 2004

From my pal Terry..."We must all have come from toads. That's why we croak when we get old." Stupid.

Celestial Observations

Surf was dinky this morning. Conditions were ok, there was simply an absence of waves. We did see three satellites, including the space station.

Gotsta see this!

Just stopped by the Keeper's Site and came across this unbelievable artwork ... all I can say is WOW!

By the way, when waiting in line for the gate to open, please turn your car and head/parking lights OFF, Freakin' IDIOTS!!

Let the Blogging Begin!

Mike here...decided to take the jump into the Blog world. The plan is to post daily about the goings on at San Onofre and the early morning crews shenanigans. I arrived at the gate at my usual weekday 5 am starting time, beating the mayor by mere minutes. The overcast conditions made satellite hunting impossible, so the count for today is: 0. Once the gate opened, I made my way down to the beach, surf was totally junk, so I went home to get ready for work.
