Not much happening, surf is on the tiny side right now but will get better with the rising tide if the forecast is accurate. Nice offshore wind, as is typical for early morning, good conditions. Got work to do, I will add more later.

Sunday Service

Good morning. Surf was even smaller than yesterday, but the clams were delicious! 2 satellites including the space station. Later.

Medium Doug cruising.

Mr. P. A. on one of the morning's nicer waves.

He says he never hops anyone...he sure did here.

A couple of desperate characters. Beware.

Some lunkhead attempting to hop Mr. P. A.

Think you're far enough out on the shoulder? Why it's Hatman!

Not Much

Surf was junk this morning. As always, the Talegalites differed in their opinion because they were out in force. 33 guys by 7:00. Seriously, the surf is chit. Instead of surfing, we prepared a nice breakfast of pamcakes and horsemeat sausage and washed it all down with ice cold milk from our delivery trucks.

Take A Number

Expect the official announcement soon, but according to reliable sources, San Onofre will become the state's first "Take a Number" surfing beach. Surfers will be required to take a number (first come, first served kind of thing) and wait in line to surf. There will be a maximum of 15 riders allowed in the water at a time. Dogpatch, Old Man's, 4 Doors and Point Surfride/Mecca/Kamikazes are the affected places. As well, those 15 surfers will be required to 'take a number' and will have to wait until their number is displayed (jumbotrons will be installed at each spot) to attempt to catch a wave. Sessions will be limited to 30 minutes, then you are done and will have to come in and pick another number. Cadets Archie, Fluffy and Sparky will oversee the enforcement, violators will be banned from the water for an unspecified amount of time and will be forced to work community service, barbecuing horsemeat at the Point using bamboo skewers. Further plans call for lighting (24 hour surfing!) and stadium seating along the bluffs.

These Are Big In The South

Check out this story.

Sillier Than Silly

That is what someone else is calling us early morning people. Maybe so, but I bet we get a lot more uncrowded times than most. There are some folks who go to bed at a reasonable time and waking up early comes natural. Dawn patrolling gets in your blood, at least that's the way it is for me. It's been that way since I started surfing many years ago. I refuse for the most part to wait until later since by then all the Talegalites have arrived and surfing just isn't worth it because I don't play well with others.

Satellite count, thanks to Officer Kithe, who by the way is off to Aussie land on a 2 week vacation, was 3. Surf was once again inviting, smaller but better shaped than yesterday. Looked like it could handle about 5 guys max since the sets were few and far between, but they looked nice. It did look like it could be good later, but already it was getting crowded. The amount of cars pouring in was amazing. It must be a no school day, I just looked at the SC pier cam and there is a small mob there. Maybe I have caught the Too Lonnie disease, it's always too small, too crowded, too dirty, too crappy, too something...

The ACE geologists have placed blame squarely on the lower gate and have removed said gate and replaced it with plastic barricades. Nice touch.

Drying Out

We are finally drying out here in Southern California, the rain is done, but may return Sunday or Monday last I heard. We are something like 5 inches off the all-time record, established in 1880 something. I hope it dumps enough to break it. Then I can say I saw it happen and be telling the truth. Surf was inviting this morning, but not inviting enough to entice me, or K. or the mayor, who went off to golf. Joe in his shorts and Randy went out so I sat for awhile scoping things out. Like I said, I just couldn't get stoked. Conditions are decent, tide is coming in, it may be better a little later, like now. Maybe tomorrow for puttzle.

As a temporary fix to getting through the slide area, Cadet Larsen attached a plow to his motor home and cut a new road up and over the affected area. Army Corp of Engineers geologists finally showed up on site this morning and pinched a fit, something about work being performed without permission and without the Illegalite workforce. Ranger Ephriam attempted to diffuse the increasingly ugly situation, but failed in his attempt. For now, the area is still off limits to vehicles and one must hoof it into San-O.

Got to San-O about 6am and no one was around, I walked down to the point and it was going off! The surf was kinda inconsistant but clean(the water was dirty) I called Puttz and left him a message and walked back to change. As I was suiting up this car from Washington (the state of) with a guy and his son pulls up, they took one look and they were ready, as we walked back down to go in we noticed a schitt load of tree branches and all kinds of stuff in the surf line (some really good stuff to fall on) so we figured it wasn't that good after all. It was 3to5 when the sets came through and really glassy. I don't know how bad the water is but it looked real dirty as it got lighter and with the crap in the water I changed my mind . Sorry Puttz if I got you all excited I think if you had been there I would have ventured out , but without someone I trusted in the water I wasn't goning to take chance and fall on something and be found impailed on a tree floating around the Point. more later-----

I just got a message from the mayor...he says San-O is good and that he was going out. Nobody else is going out, he says it's just him. He will update. I am bummed.

I've added a new blog link on the right to surfsister's blog. She does good work, as does whiffleboy. None of the gibberish that we post, they both seem to have paid attention during writing class and it shows. I particularly like the picture on her blog. Check them out.

More Wet Stuff

According to the weatherman and the skies, we are in store for another dump. I headed down to San-O, usual time, hoping that it would be decent and nobody would show. One look and I knew that was a dream! Wind is out of the SE but the surf, what there was of it (not much), was disorganized. I hopped in Chester and headed for points north.

The slide has now covered the entire Church side lot. ACE geologists are busy conducting studies, although they have yet to show up on site, preferring to simulate with computer models. Anyone going to Church should just drive right into the camping area. Pay no attention to the military guys, just tell them you are going surfing and are too lazy to walk. That should work. A Starbucks double mocha skim milk latte in hand for them may also work.
However, your Talega resident card will not be accepted, although reportedly negotiations are underway.

Check out the Big Kook's blog. I couldn't have said it better myself!

Ah, my mom comes through again!

"Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Mr. Common Sense. Mr. Sense had been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that life isn't always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge).

His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place - reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Mr. Sense declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student; but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, she spilled a bit in her lap, and was awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by two stepbrothers; My Rights and Ima Whiner. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on; if not, join the majority and do nothing."

more of the same

Woke up to more rain and howling wind, stayed in bed till the wife left for work then the sun was peeking through the clouds so I went and played 9 holes. Now its raining again. Is there no relief in site? more later--- P.S. theres more on the way from the Islands!!!!!
Wow! I just looked out the window here at work and there is a spectacular double rainbow.

During my internet surfing this morning, I came across this story about the angry girlfriend, the fake bishop, some naked guy, a missing shoe, some clever students and a sick lady.

Monday on Tuesday

That's right, it's Monday/Tuesday since yesterday was a holiday. I journeyed down to San-O at the usual time even though I knew the wind was all wrong. It was coming from the west, the south, the north, then back south. All over the map. I just wanted to see what things looked like after all the rain. I parked in the lot and walked down the road to the corner. That's as far as I got due to the hill which slide down into the road, completely blocking the way. According to a note that Ranger Ephriam left for me, the Army Corp of Engineers will have to conduct a six to ten month study to determine the cause of the slide and what fixes, if any, will be made. Parking in the lot will be by reservation only, obtainable at the state parks web site. Annual pass reservations can be had for $250, but are only good for the calendar year. Each reservation holder will be assigned a specific parking space, anyone not displaying the reservation receipt will be subject to tow. Cadet Larsen will be rehired to oversee the lot. Alternatively, one could simply drive into the base area now that the gate is open and park at Church. Feel free.

Monday, February 21, 2005

A couple days ago, Murphy implied that he had found a Starbucks card that belonged to me. Ranger Ephriam confiscated the card on the spot, and I got a change to scan it. Look for yourself, do we need any more proof?

Tornado in Huntington Beach? Whats this world coming to? The Tornado should be hitting the Talegalites, these guys will surf anything, and besides isn't that what I/me makes surfboards for? Didn't bother to get out of bed this morning, I figured if anything interesting happens at San-O it would be washed away anyway! NO SURF, NO GOLF my god whats this world coming to? I have to stay home and work around the house, I'm going CRAZZZZZYYYYYYYY----more later--, Hi Dingo and you to His Man-Person, oh! and you to Puttz!

Hunter S. Thompson and Sandra Dee. Gidget and Gonzo have gone to the Great Beyond. Not surprisingly, Hunter S. shot himself.

Wet Monday

Jumped in the vehicle this morning but I only went as far as the local Circle K where I got my morning coffee. I drove to Doheny and boy what a mess! Even though it was still dark, I could tell the water was a mess. The whitewater had no white in it, but that is not unusual for Doheny. With the howling south wind and driving rain, I decided a drive to San-O was not in the cards for puttzle. Maybe later when it lightens up I will go look and take a pic or two...

Sunday Service

Dingo, his man-person C, Ralphie Boy and the late arriving mayor were in attendance. We walked down to Kamikaze/Mecca/The Point (call it what you like folks) for a look. The road was in fair shape, the surf was junk, 2-4 storm stuff. The Talegalites arrived this morning, drove right up to the lower gate and sat there wondering if the gate would open. Here's a clue, it's after 6:00 a.m. and the regulars are parked (not in line). Then they park and suit right up without even looking at the surf, which by the way was crap and that would explain all the regulars sitting around talking story. I did have my camera and probably should have taken a pic or two, but I didn't want to walk back down just to shoot some kooks. Sorry, maybe next time.

More to come later.

It was Hooting!

The wind was hooting this morning and so was the rain. Got woken up at 3 am this morning by pouring rain, turned off my alarm and went back to sleep. I rolled out of bed at about 6:30 and drove down to San-O. Dingo and his man-person were still there and they told me that Ranger P. came down at about 5:30 and stayed about a half hour and watched a great lightening storm. Then he and his man-person took a walk and thats when I ran into them as they were coming back. I had walked down to toilet 2 when Dingo came running up barking happily until he found I had no treats with me. How ever they did find Puttzles Starbucks card in the road and we wondered how he would survive the morning without it! Its was too rainy to golf and to windy to surf so I'll just have to do my taxes. The golf tournament is called off today do to the rain so I guess I'll be stuck watching Nascar or cartoons. More later----
Well what can I say? Raging storm out there, I stayed home where it is warm and dry. The official puttzle rain gauge shows 1 inch in the last 30 hours, here in Dana Point. I am afraid the official puttzle rain gauge lied as it absolutely poured at times last night. On the news, they say Burbank got something like 8 inches in the last 24 hours. Wow! Now that's some rainfall! Late.

Friday, February 18, 2005

Here's one way to evict someone.

Slept in

Woke up looked outside and saw rain and south wind, figured its another good day to sleep in. Maybe we get all this rain because of the Talegalites? Think about it! All those big homes with their swimming pools and hot- tubs creating all that steam, it rises up and turns to rain, and where is it going to rain? You guessed it. I guess thats why the Mormons like it here so much now, it reminds them of Utah! Oh! And lets not forget the steam from their "LATTES'' from Starbucks!
More later, unless something better comes along.

Jumped in the auto this morning not knowing what to expect. There was a breath of wind, I was not sure of the direction. The first set of flags I spotted were limp so I still was clueless (no jokes!). Fortunately I had to stop for gas, because the south wind was blowin'. That made my decision easy. Home and work. So here I am, TGIF! Three day weekend! It has rained most of the a.m. so far, I didn't check the official puttzle rain gauge, so I don't know how much. Driving was somewhat treacherous due to the amount of water on the road. Coming in early has it's many benefits, lack of traffic being the biggest.

Since Murphy can't golf today due to the rain and I bet the surf is crap, maybe he will weigh in, heaven forbid Dingo or SANOMAN or the distant tubenlars post. Probably more from me later.

Golf Day

GOLF DAY. (thanks puttz)

Mileage Tax Rant

WTF is the matter with politicians? A tax on every mile you drive? From what I have read, which I must admit is not much, they are proposing to monitor mileage with some kind of device that will be installed on your car. Umm, excuse me big brother, just who is going to pay for those devices? Oh, we are? I see. And just how will they be installed on all the cars in the state? Good luck! What about out of state drivers? Will they pay at the border (har-har)? Who will collect that? Oh yeah, more government employees who we pay a premium wage to sit around doing nothing, like the CalTrans guys. 1 working, 4 standing around and the supervisor yapping on the phone. These are our tax dollars folks! Maybe if CalTrans got more efficient, then the gas tax dollars would be sufficient. Never happen, better to tax the poor fool who is forced to commute a long distance because the only housing that they can afford is hours inland. That is something that has bothered me for a long time. All this $$$ comes along and buys up everything, they build monstrous houses, hotels and the like. Then the hired help (I'm talking legals here, not illegals who cram 25-30 people in an apartment)has no place to live and are forced to move to Riverside or Temecula or the like. Do they make the $$$$ people build affordable housing for the help. Not on your life...and that is one of the many things wrong with my home state.
While there have been reported sightings of SANOMAN, I have not seen him around or read a single post (unless you count his commenting, he's one of the cap lock guys) of his. Actually the one purported sighting from 307Bravo (now that's a clever name) turned out to be a false sighting. It must be hard work loading up the Talega Van & Storage truck for the big move. I bet he hired a bunch of illegals to much, $10 an hour?
Another fun morning in the surf. Not as good as yesterday, but still worth it. Size was about like yesterday, but it was more walled up and the tide was a bit higher and that affected it somewhat. A lot more people, I did not even bother venturing out at the Point and stayed at the sandbar. Had it to myself for a bit, then JB came out. That was OK as I went out there yesterday when he was the only one in that spot. After some time a couple other guys came out, so I called it a morning after a good hour+ session. No satellites this morning, it was too hazy to bother with. Conditions are excellent, there is a full-on smog streak on the horizon, indicative of offshores. However, it is dark and foreboding out over the ocean.

The mayor did not surf this morning, it is a Golf day for him...

Wednesday, February 16, 2005

What a morning! Turned my heater on in the camper to warm it up to change, then sat and watch Puttzle and K getting some really good, and I mean REALLY GOOD surf. Climbed up in the camper and laid out my wetsuit to warm it up in the heat of the camper, sat back to watch the boys get some good waves and fell asleep. Suddenly I hear a small truck engine reving and then tires spinning I woke up and looked out the window and saw this young man had pulled up to close to one of the cravasses made by the rain and dropped his front end into it and couldn't get out. I called Ranger P and together we tried to jimmy his door open because he had gotten out to look at how stuck he was and locked himself out. Luckly he left it in neutral so I backed the rig up to his truck and with a piece of tow chain hooked to his bumperIdropped my rig into 4wheel low and pulled him out easy as pie. Puttzle by this time had been in twice, he came out and left for work (what a mistake) about 9:30 the tide started coming in and it glassed off and was flawless! The crowd was minimal but packed in one spot, walk up to bamboozles with my 8' fun board for about an hour, man did it feel good (and cold). More later---

Has anybody seen SANOMAN lately, or is his move to Talega final?

What A Day!

Wow, now that was a real fun morning! Satellite count was 9. Surf is 3-5 with great shape on some. The crowd was minimal, I guess everyone figured it was going to rain (they actually depend on the freakin' weatherman or internet?) and slept in. The school teacher, Hor-hay, K., TB Joe and a few others were it. We were all sharing and having a blast. K. was on this morning, catching set after set and planting himself on the nose. The lefts at the Point were firing, as were the rights now that I think about it. I caught more waves in that session than in my last 3 combined. Actually, it was two sessions because after coming in, I realized it was getting better and bigger and was still uncrowded. I went out to the bar and caught 3 or 4 more waves than came in and headed to work. Oh Joy.

Here's a little story about the mayor this morning. As I'm suiting up, I ask him why he is not suiting up. "I just turned the heater on in the camper, then I'll suit up and come out" he replied. That statement is one I will file away and react differently to the next time he tries to use it. I'm having a blast, I realize that Murphy is nowhere. His camper is there, but I don't see him. As I'm coming in the first time after about an hour, I see him. I walked up to him and asked "What happened to you?" "I fell asleep," he replied. Can you believe that? I bet the mormons had something to do with it, sounds like I need to bring additional Java in the morning. Late.

Tuesday, February 15, 2005

Now available at the Talega Motor Cars showroom at the east end of pico. You can't miss it!
Good morning all. Surf was almost non-existent, a quick look and I was on my way to work, with a stop for a shower and shave. The mayor and K showed up along with a couple of other folks who stayed in their vehicles. The mayor was on fire spotting 4 satellites through the haze, verified by myself.

More later? Possible.

Monday, February 14, 2005

This judge has the right idea!

I Love Sushi

But not enough to do this. Then there's this poor guy. This lady is unclear on raising children. I'll bet she was talking on her cellphone!

Surf looked like maybe it could be fun, but I passed. 1-3 foot with an occasional fair looking wave that had some shape. The mayor and Joe in his shorts were there, we spied 4 satellites between breaks in the clouds. Supposedly we are going to get rain later in the week that will make the rains of early January look small. We shall see.

I am trying to fight off the Monday blues. Extended periods of minimal sunlight does that to a person. It's been like June gloom lately. With all the adverse weather this season, I am going to go out on a limb and predict that we will have NO JUNE GLOOM this year. That's correct, we will have none of the June gloom that in the past few years has really been July and August gloom if you think about it. Doesn't matter, we will have none of it because we are getting it all this winter.

Sunday Service

Not much going on at San-O this morning. Dingo, Dingo's man-person C., Ralphie Boy, Joe in his shorts and the mayor (duh!) were in attendance. The man-person and I walked down for a look to see if we thought the Ranger might actually open the gate. It seemed dry enough to me and the man-person seemed to agree. Ranger Maggie, after splashing us by swiftly driving through Lake San-O, opened the gate. We were in! Surf looked, ehh. I left and it was still dark. Still has a bit of storminess to it, although the wind was minimal and slightly offshore. A light drizzle was falling. All in all an ugly morning.

More details are coming out regarding the proposed Talega takeover of the park. Plans call for a water park addition. Leveling of the cliffs and hillside all the way back to the present site of the kiosk will enable the operators to build a park akin to Raging Waters. Warm water obtained from the plant will enable year round use and save on winter heating bills, so the venture promises to be a money-maker.

2 day no-show

First lets set the records straight! I was at San-O this morning and I did not see Dingo, His man-person, or Joe in his shorts! It could be because I didn't get down there until around 7:00, but I did go, there was only three cars in the parking lot, a Dodge van conversion, a silver mini van and Domo parked at the gate. See you in the morning-------

Rainy Day

According to the official puttzle rain gauge, just short of 5 inches of rain has fallen in Dana Point since this started yesterday. I did not venture to San-O, the wind is wrong and it is raining. Late.

Try this game.

Hell hath no fury...
Aha, the truth comes out!

Good morning all! If you live around these parts, you know it rained overnight with more expected today. I woke up at the normal time and since all I heard during the night was a steady rain and no wind, I headed to my vehicle. As soon as I stepped outside I realized that it actually was windy. It seemed to be offshore, or from a general offshore direction. All I could think about was Jimmy's birthday last November. Sure enough, as I progressed on my morning journey, the flags definitely were from the ESE. I stopped for my morning 7-11's Finest coffee, and the wind was simply howling! I pulled into the San-O parking lot and well, parked. Nobody else in sight, I assume the Mayor slept in due to the rain. I jumped out of the vehicle and picked my way through the mud and the puddles and walked down the road to take a peek at the peaks. What peaks??? It was faaallllaaaattttt...but it was offshore! No surfing today for puttzle.

Once again I am beginning to worry about Murphy. It's days like today when he is most vulnerable to the mormons. He can't go golfing (it's raining!) , there was no surf and Springer doesn't come on until well into the day, so you can see that he is ripe for the taking. All it would take is a knock on the door from the whiteshirt guys.

Now that Wi-Fi is coming to a State Park near you (yup, San-O is one), the Talegalites are circulating a plan to pave the rest of the road and add striped parking places, as well as a Starbucks on each end and Talega Surf & Sport South in the middle, where they will carry the latest boards from Fletcher Jones. The Church parking area would be turned into an outdoor seating area, complete with telescopes for viewing. Surfline will maintain a live camera, but the feed will only be available to Starbucks customers, Surfline subscribers and Talegalites. The area around the Hawaiian Club would be RV parking only, minimum 46 foot and complete hook-ups. The Point will be demolished due to the planned road widening. They are also proposing renaming the area to Talega South and naming their coming toll road the Talega Expressway.

Speaking of Fletch, I am hearing that they are attempting to steal the famous IME to shape.

Thursday, February 10, 2005

I couldn't get stoked enough to go out this morning. Maybe it was the crowd? Surf was 1-3 with occasional 4 footers, good shape, nice conditions wind-wise. It was not the most consistent either, enough surf for maybe 5 guys. Easily 15 and counting when I left. I don't see how people can even go out when it is like that, how can a person have fun? 5 or 6 guys going for every wave? No thanks! Adding to that was who was out. A few of them I love to surf with, like the school teacher, MacTavish Bob, John and a few others. Then there is the a**hole (how's that Medium Doug, pass the filter?) crew, when I see them I head the opposite direction as a rule.

The mayor and I caught site if the Space Station just before the clouds took over. Nice. Hope everyone has a great day, I plan to!

Officer Kithe cruisin'.

6:30 am, 2.10.05. Is school out?

Wednesday, February 09, 2005

I am afraid we, or rather I have made a serious mistake. I believe the contributor known as SANOMAN (original name!) is actually a Talegalite!!! I pray I am wrong, but the lack of input from him tells me he is slowly stewing over all the Talega bashing, which proves my point...HE IS FROM TALEGA! I may have to remove him, or at least turn him in to Ranger Ephriam.
Today is another typical Southern California brochure morning. Satellite count was 9 even though the skies were clear as all get out. Sometimes I think there is a sensory overload on these type mornings, there are so many stars that spotting the satellites is more difficult. Weird huh? You would think it would be easier. Surf almost looked inviting enough to go out, keyword being 'almost'. 1-3 with nice looking conditions, cold offshore winds which I am sure had a little to do with my decision to head to work. The tide was high and I bet it will get better as the morning dawns.

It seems like we may have a new pet at San-O. Utahman doesn't want to go away. We may have to take him to the vet (or maybe Dr. Doug will make a truck call) to get him checked out and of course, neutered. We can't risk any more being created now, can we? Later.

Once Again

This week's News of the Weird.
Dumb network is slow at work today so I am just able to get on the blog. Not much to report, surf was small, tide was high, sky was very clear and the satellite count was 8, including the space station, which was illuminated the whole length of it's flight across the morning heavens. According to the mayor, the surf came up after I left yesterday, 3-5 ft. but with a south wind on it. Now that I think about it, he did say 3-5 but never specified if that was in feet or inches, from what I saw it was the later.

Guess who showed up this morning, in fact was first in line, probably because he camped there, which is not kosher. Yup, UTAH man. Methinks he is full of doo-doo, lives in the area and has Utah plates because it is cheaper to register the vehicle there. Little does the dimwit know that one of the regulars, K, is a Chippie. If that guy is there in the morning, I will note his plates and turn them over to Officer Kithe, who informs me that this type of thing is high on their list. Hee-hee, ain't I a stinker?

Happy Happy Joy Joy

It's Monday! Hooray, I am soooo happy about that! If yesterday's surf was tiny, today it is tiny's midget brother. Boy is it flat! Got to San-O a bit earlier than normal for a weekday, took a look, waited for the mayor, jawed a little, then left for home and work, where I now reside for at least the next 8 hours. Also, I am sick. Stuffy head, sneezles and associated maladies. So maybe 8 hours is a stretch, we shall see.

Nothing else to say at the moment, time to drown myself in water and take some Advil Cold & Sinus...Late.

Not Much There

As shown by the shots below, waves were tiny with excellent conditions. The Talegalites were out in force showing off their pretty wetsuits and absolutely shredding the non-existent surf. Satellite count was 10 or 11. The usual suspects were in attendence, with the exception of Camper Rick, who showed up first. Don't have much to say right now, maybe later...

What a kook!

What form!

Joel? What style!

Ode to Dingo

Arf, I guess that about sums it up! Took my Mustang up to Energy Suspension for installation of their newly fabricated transmission mounts that they want me to try, and now I'm off to the golf course for the weekly Scramble to try and make a couple of bucks while I'm having fun. Hope there's surf in the morning, but it doesn't seem to promising. Talegalites were out in force this morning riding the knee high stuff, and snaking each other (what else is new). Weather is very nice except for the fact there's no surf. More later----

Friday is finally here and of course I am overjoyed with the prospect of a few days off. The mayor and I counted 9 satellites with excellent viewing conditions. This day is looking like Southern California brochure material, very clear skies, light winds and fairly warm. Just another day where it absolutely sucks to have to work. The surf, unlike the conditions, sucks! Actually, it doesn't since there is really nothing. 1 maybe 2 foot if I stand on my head and look in a mirror with binoculars. Murphy was particularly perturbed since his expectations were of EPIC surf and he was determined to go out, if for no other reason then to show off his brand spankin' new blue and yellow Talega Surf & Sport wetsuit, which he wore down this morning. He even has matching gloves and boots (they were out of purses). I left because I wanted to just get the workday over with. Murphy was preparing to go out and as usual, paddle around then come in.

I cannot believe the uproar over the General's
comments! What is wrong with the media and liberals? Enough is enough people, this has to stop. I heard on talk radio this morning liberals described as "Can't we all just get along" types. I disagree and felt like calling this person and venting. Alas, I was driving so my attention, as we all know by now, was firmly on driving. I can see where he would say that, but I kind of think that phrase was right on target. I see myself as being somewhat liberal in my thinking, not my politics, Dubyah's my man! So the phrase applies to someone who is tolerant of others and their views, people who not afflicted with tunnel vision. So, those of you can't play well with the rest of us and are a drain on society, I am all for eliminating the problem. Might as well have some fun while you are at it...Lates.

Do You A Drinking Problem?

Try a bit, or as in this case, a butt of sherry. Then there's this scientist who undoubtedly will end up in the Darwin Awards.
It's just another typical Southern California kind of day. Clear, offshore and a bit of surf. I went out, probably shouldn't have because I did not have a fun time. Initially a small crowd, but as is the norm, when I finally picked a wave I wanted and had waited for, the school bus driver, in his usual position way down on the shoulder, figures I might not catch it (huh? It was a set, I usually don't miss those) and took off. He did kick out fairly quickly when he saw I had the wave, but his actions made the wave break and thus puttzle couldn't make it. I was not happy but didn't fell like pushing it. I sat and talked to one of the school teachers for a bit, waiting for another set. Then the morning crew that I don't play well with came out and I drifted over to the bar area. I waited. And waited. The other school teacher paddled out and we sat and talked for a few more minutes. Finally, a little wave came in and I took it, rode it for a bit, turned and said "See ya" to the school teacher and went in. Not fulfilling at all. There's always tomorrow.

Satellite count was 11, maybe 12, Murphy and K were counting still as I went out. Late.

offical name change

There is a new offical name for San onofre, it will now be refered to as "San annoying" because of the influx of all the Talegalites! Thats all they seem to do is come down and annoy everyone with their everyone go on the same wave approach. More later!
Coming soon to San-O , after all, it is in SD County. The Talegalites are rejoicing.

Hey Murphy, if you read this (slim chance), go over to whiffleboy's blog, he's asking for pointers on the Cove and you may want to respond.
Shoot! Just looked at the San Clemente pier cam and it's looking a lot better. Great conditions, I bet the Point is looking good!

Another Wednesday

I probably should have gone out thins morning, it was 1-3 and building a bit with the tide. I had no motivation, the surf wasn't that good yet in my estimation. Unfortunately for me, I had work to attend and could not wait for the higher tide. Conditions and the day look fabulous. Figures. The mayor and I counted 9 satellites, it was very clear with a waning moon, but for some reason they were hard to spot.

Now according to the Gold Medal Winner, yesterday got pretty fun with the tide. No really, he won the Gold Medal at the 1960 Olympics. Or was it 1964? Something like that, I know it wasn't 1860...or was it? There are stories about some Civil War rifle he possesses and how he is the original owner, so one cannot be too sure. I will take his 'report' with a grain of salt, he IS Irish after all.

More to come...must work for awhile.

OK Murphy

So this is good how? I am sure the soon to be displaced workers are jumping for joy!
Why doesn't Flipper go away for a while like Gore did? The guy has no clue!
Once again, mom comes through...

The following is attributed to Andy Rooney on "60 Minutes"
I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens...Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, that is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion. I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling, it is the Law of Probability.

I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English! My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry ass if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business. We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor.

I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else and if you don't like my point of view, tough...

The mayor and I counted 21 satellites this morning, that's one off the all time record! Surf was small, according to authorities that was due to the low tide. Conditions were excellent, looks like offshore and warming up. A beautiful day, I wish I didn't have to work.

I cannot believe the media in this country, as well as some of the citizenry. Here we are, possibly on the brink of a chain of events in line with the fall of the Berlin Wall, and all the talking heads can yak about is...Michael Jackson! The authorities had to put up a fence to hold back his supporters? Hello!?! The people of Iraq just did something totally unknown to them (voted) and guess what? They LOVED it! They are starting to realize what freedom means. This vote was not like the sham "99% voted for me" election of Saddam, sounds like they think this one is for real. Can you imagine what this may do to the rest of the Middle East? Some of the other people in surrounding countries have to be looking at the Iraqi elections and saying "Why not us?" All I saw last night on the tube was Michael Jackson. One thousand press credentials passed out. I turned the channel, same thing all over the place. Stupid media. Stupid me for watching, although it was only a momentary lapse. Since that was on ALL the news channels, I watched Sponge Bob.
