Fast food

Well, you don't like to go for the fast food thing. It's not good for you and you know it.

The other day, strapped for time and in a hurry, I did just that.

So I wheel into the drive up order line. I know precisely what I want and there are zero cars in front of me.

I get the usual greeting and begin to order. I am interrupted before I can say two words.

The person with the Star Wars like head set on says something, and I do not understand any of it.

So I ignore what she says and begin to repeat my order. Again I am interrupted.

By now I am pissed, and when I get to window someone is going to get a piece of my mind.

Now I emphatically blurt out my order and drive up to window.

I am really going to give someone a rough time.

I get to the window and I am greeted by this little gray haired lady, who is in her seventies.

She says with a really cute smile, that will be $5.80 please.

So I hand her the money and say, thank you very much.

Even More Sandbar Action

I have to apologize for not getting a sequence of pictures of this whole event. You do know how it went from here. It was glorious. The girl on the left hung on like a trooper, even when the wave came down on them and the raft flipped. Maybe it was because she held on so tight that the raft blew out a seam.

sharks at San Onofre

Juvenile Great white sharks are in the shallows at San Onofre again, This was the scene today as I was casting my line in near the sandy bottom at the point. These are extremely aggressive sharks, great care should be excercised with children near the water, "there have been 3 confimed attacks since Jan, 07", said Bill Stein, a shocking increase.

Secret Service / SDGE Connection

SDG&E, which denies holding secret prisoners, is a company with a long history of human rights abuses. In recent years, it has also been a key American ally in the fight against Al Qaeda, which has been trying to sink roots among Muslims in american communities.
American government officials contacted by AP acknowledged questioning prisoners in the secret prison under SONGS Mesa Facility. But they said American agents were following the law and were fully justified in their actions because they are investigating past attacks and current threats of terrorism.
The prisoners were never in American custody, Under the auspices of foreign war doctrine enemy combatants may be transfered to our secret facilities in the U.S. for Security and debriefing, said an FBI spokesman, Terry Tracy, who denied the agency would support or be party to illegal arrests. He said American agents were allowed limited access by governments in the secret facilityto question prisoners as part of the FBI's counter-terrorism work.
Western security officials, who insisted on anonymity because the issue related to security matters, told AP that among those held were well-known suspects with strong links to Al Qaeda.
Many have suspected illegal secret prisons in or around the Americas nuclear facilities for decades, but have been unable to prove it until now.

Dick In A Box

I find it amusing that this video for the song "Dick In A Box" (broadcast on SNL) won an Emmy when another winner from the same night will have her acceptance speech edited because instead of thanking Jesus, she told Jesus to suck it.

Perhaps someone should compile a list because it can be confusing.
No cartoons of Muhammad. No jesting that the Christian savior should suck it.

How about a music video about giving your penis in a box as a gift to your girlfriend – in order to celebrate the birth of Christ? Ding-ding-ding. That’s apparently a winner.

Dental Evolution

I've always thought that shark teeth were more evolved than human teeth, at least in the sense that they are always being replaced, much like one replaces the blade in a power saw. If an adult human tooth is lost, one must live without it (clicking on the image gets a better view).

Breaking News at San Onofre

Radioactive Water Seeps Out of San Onofre Nuclear Plant
SAN ONOFRE, September 14, 2007- San Clemente authorities shut down a water well in the city to test for radioactive contamination from the San Onofre nuclear generating plant, it was reported Thursday.
"There is an indication that there has been contamination, but we will continue to operate until the test results are in," San Clemente Public Works Director David Lund told the Orange County Register.
He said the well, on the grounds of the Trestles estuary, produces about three percent of the city's water. Most of the well's water is used for irrigating the San Mateo farm, but some goes to homes.
Several thousand gallons of radioactive water have leaked out of a retired reactor at the San Onofre nuclear power plant over an unknown period of time. Officials say there is a threat to public safety.
The radioactive water contains tritium, a byproduct of the nuclear fission that produces electricity. High levels of tritium will cause cancer and birth defects.
The concentration of tritium found in groundwater beneath the retired reactor was higher than standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency for drinking water.
Initial tests showed it was Higher than the maximum annual leakage permitted for nuclear power plants by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Surfers and swimmers should only due so after being warned of the possible danger involving these emissions. "We fear for these peoples safety" said Curren Swaydasal, San Diego councilman.
"There is definately a danger to public safety," Victor Dricks, the commission's spokesman said.
Crews demolishing the retired reactor discovered the leak Thursday, and the commission was notified Friday.
The leak might have started decades ago, said Ray Golden, a spokesman for the nuclear facility.
Lund said that the tritium under the San Onofre plant has definately contaminated the city's well. "It's two miles away and downhill from the plant, and water doesn't run uphill," he said.
Lund said the city saves money by operating the well but that it is essential to the city's water supply.
With regards to the danger in going into the ocean, Golden said that if the tritium washes into the ocean, it turns to scum and remains on the surface, after being churned in the surf it is deposited in the sand and remains there indefinately, causing health and reproductive concerns for beach users.

Deliberating Whether They Know Him?

Spector, on the right, wrote the song about his father, who had committed suicide when Spector was 9. It was the "B" side of what they hoped would be a hit song on the "A" side ("You Don't Know My Little Pet"), but as things go, the "A" side flopped. Then a DJ in Fargo, N.D., played the "B" side on air. A record distributor in Minneapolis then orders 18,000 copies. Press releases about the order cause other radio stations to play the song. The group performs on American Bandstand. The record hits number 1 and sells 5 million copies.

The song comes from the inscription on his father's tombstone.

More trivia: And remember MoonDoggie? Marshall Leib, the guy on the left, previously had a group called the MoonDogs.

This was what I was met with on my morning walk along the beach at four doors, It was ghastly, and made me wonder what good the alcohol ban is having, if the scofflaws just party on after dark.

Look.... No Hands.

San-O Surfing Tip No. 87: Surf With Friends

Wherever possible, surf with as many friends as you can get to come with you. Some people think that it's best to surf with other learners (and spur each other on), some think it's better to surf with more experienced surfers so that you can learn from them. In either case you will learn from the other surfers, and increase the chances that there will be someone who can help you should things go wrong.

expansion planned

Curren Swaydasal
Orange County Register

California State Parks Department has approved plans for what is billed as one of the largest underground parking garages in the U.S., which will hold some 5,000 vehicles on its San Onofre/Trestles State Beach. In a deal reached with The Toll Road agency, It's scheduled to be completed by mid-2010.
The state is digging for a solution to the parking crunch on its growing surfing demand, The State plans to excavate a giant pit for an underground parking garage with the capacity for some 5,000 vehicles.
That's nearly as many spots as Bolsa Chica And Santa Monica combined, and would make it one of the largest underground parking structures in the United States.
It will cover the equivalent of six downtown city blocks and go four stories deep.
The underground garage, on the west side of Interstate 5 near the Basilone exit, is scheduled to be completed by mid-2010.
Plans for the 3.1 million square feet are complete and approved, at a cost of roughly $1.3 billion construction will begin in Novenber of 2007
Parking at San Onofre has become such a hassle that the State and Southern California Edison, who operates A nearby power plant, agree, this will alleviate all the current problems associated with the now overloaded lot.
The new garage "will go a long way to helping out with that crunch that we feel," It will also provide a much improved Beach experience for those who seek out the cooler coast weather when the weather is hot inland. Currently," Would be Bathers are forced to endure long lines and waiting to use the beach, this will remedy that and provide for projected future growth of 41% by the year 2040" claimed " Gustavo Amaya, A Dept spokesperson.

The project involves more than just parking.
"When this is done, I think people will look to that area as the center of Orange County," Amaya said. "It's being designed and built that way," with open space, a plaza, and other architectural and artistic touches planned to make the area friendly to all beach goers.

Son Urinates on Michael Douglas Following Jellyfish Attack
Michael Douglas has quipped about his holiday jellyfish attack at San Onofre Surf Beach, Ca., insisting his son may need therapy after urinating on his back. The actor was vacationing with his family at their summer home when he suffered a nasty sting and pleaded with five-year-old son Dylan to alleviate the pain.
The star explains, "I took my kids down to the ocean the other day and we had a little problem - we have jellyfish. I got stung actually pretty bad, across my back just last week. There's sort of a remedy that we've all heard...urine. It's the remedy if you have a bad sting.
"So I asked my five-year-old son if he would pee-pee on my back. He looked at me like he'd gone to heaven. He was like 'This is what I call a good summer holiday! Pee-pee on daddy's back!' I don't know if it helped at all, but my son was happy. We'll work it out in 20 years (when he's in therapy)!"

New Ceiling Fan

I installed a ceiling fan, shown here, just before the heat wave started. I have air conditioning too, but the ceiling fan has proven popular with the neighbors that I let come over to use my pool when it's hot.
