Shorecliffs Teacher Faces 4th Sex Accusation

A fourth possible victim has come forward in the case against Shorecliffs Middle School math teacher Richard Rack, 50, who faces accusations of inappropriate sexual conduct with several middle school students, officials said Friday. Rack, who was arrested June 6 on suspicion of acting inappropriately with girls younger than 14, was arrested again Thursday for allegedly having sex with a third girl. He had been under investigation since November and was placed on administrative leave by the school Dec. 1, said Orange County Sheriff’s officials. The latest accuser contacted authorities “after news reports were coming out about Richard Rack,” said Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Amormino. “She mentioned she was a victim while she attended Shorecliffs Middle School a couple of years ago.” The student no longer attends Shorecliffs, but is still being classified as a “14 and under” case. She was being interviewed by investigators Friday and no further details were provided. Rack was in custody at Theo Lacy jail in Orange with bail set at $1 million, officials said. The allegations arising from Jane Doe No. 1 were that Rack commented on a current student's figure, peeked down her blouse, hugged and kissed her on the forehead and asked her to wear lower-cut shirts, law enforcement officials have said. Jane Doe No. 2, also a current student, alleges that Rack asked that she send nude photos of herself, which she did. Jane Doe No. 3, a girl who has since left Shorecliffs, allegedly maintained a sexual affair with two years. The details of what may have happened between Jane Doe No. 4 and Rack have not been publicized. Authorities urge anyone with information or tips in the case to call 855-TIP-OCCS (855-847-6227) or submit tips online at www.occrimestoppers.org.
