City ordered to pay $9.6 mil. to family of NU player slain by cop Chicago Sun-Times Find Articles at BNET.com: "City attorneys gambled that the jurors would not award as much to Russ as the $18 million the city gave Haggerty, even though the shootings happened on the same weekend, because Haggerty was a passenger, while Russ was a driver who refused to stop. Shapiro asked jurors for the same $18 million Haggerty's family got"

Dear Mr. Kent, please note at the end of the article it states, The "Haggerty's" Family, not Haggerties family. LOL! Maybe we should ask the "BLOG MONITOR"!

Mr.Murphy, there's an age old journalistic adage:
"DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU READ, AND ONLY HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE." Did you know Northwestern defeated USC in the contraversial 1949 Rose Bowl. I know you remember Art Murakowsi, don't you? Then, by any chance do you who the BNET is? There's a wonderful website about coastal photogtapy, where you can insert beach areas, and view the arial view. In the search box type Haggeties you see what remains of the pier. Type
Haggerty's Viola, NOTHING,
NADA, ZILCH, CIPHER, ZERO!

Get over it, boys. Haggerties was the 50'S. Get on with things, concentrate on Ski Jump. I know you know where that place is, don't you?

Ski jump is just north of little queens reef just off Flat Rock the old skin diving area (big mushy peak), but Bone yards was my spot being a goofy foot.

I know Murph's correct, now maybe he can pin point
for us newbies to the pastime, where Burn Down was.

Now, just a moment here, Murph. If you're at PV Central then you're going left, okay. If you're going left, you're facing the wave, okay. Well, if you're facing the wave, you're not, as you call it, a goofy foot, okay. Why don't you make it easy on us beginners and call it right foot foward. How hard can that be, okay?

Goofy foot IS right foot forward, if your going right and your back is to the wave your still a goofy foot! Example, the great tubesteak used to surf the THE BU, which is a right point break. his face was to the wave and he stood left foot forward thus called a Regular Foot. The name is Burn-out, its at the site where the "Hollywood Riviera" beach club used to be on the bluff. The club burned down twice, and the 2nd time they decided not to rebuild, thus the name "Burn-out" it was dubbed.

I forgot, the only part of the club left standing is the concrete steps that go down to the beach from atop the bluff.
