Well, as long as we are on the wait in line in the morning subject.
Lets talk about the four way stop at the bottom of the hill.

It is around six in the morning, the line is beginning to move, sure enough here comes someone down the hill. He stops at the four way stop and then proceeds to continue on. Well there is no way you are going to let him in, you have been in line since five.

Having said that, what happens if things escalate into a shoving match with cars, or a fist a cuffs.
He made his stop, you how ever rolled through to stay on the bumper of the car in front of you, disallowing him access.

In a court of law, you lose. If I am incorrect about this, there are plenty of you out there who will let me know.

Lets face it, S.O.N.G.S. needs access both in and out of the plant. The way things are now is a bad design. I have my own solution to the problem, witch I will keep to myself for now.

I would like to here your resolution to the problem how ever.

Thanks so much for opening this delicate subject, I have had to vandalize numerous vehicles responsible for cutting the line. I see the infraction, then wait for the individual to leave his/her ridw unattended, then i strike. I use paint stripper in a ketchup bottle, it's silent and works wonders. I then wait for the owner and offer to help find the offenders and offer up a possible explanantion on why it may have happened.
Solution: no beach access except from the long road
solution: place barrier with instructions at four way until the line clears. The ranger could easily do this, or one of the line guys in the early hours, then remove it after the line clears. If someone then cuts the line, just shoot em.

Law enforcement should ticket vehicles that form a line to the San Onofre State Park prior to 6:00 AM. That would eliminate the need for insomniacs to line up early, thus defeating the reasonable intent of a four way stop. If traffic into the park arrives at the same time the gate opens, then there should be very little, if any, backed up cars. SONGS would benefit from this because there would be less vehicles to monitor. Lets face it, Angrywhtman is still going to customize paint jobs. But that's a whole other story.

Perhaps a mustard bottle would serve better for the deed, they are not see through and project their substance further. It would be more incognito so to speak. Would that be 9mm. or 45Auto?

It is my understanding that a peace officer at the intersection could override the posted 4 way stop sign. However, Angrywhiteman's idea of no beach access from the hill road makes sense to me! A sandwich board sign could be put at the top of the hill by the arriving attendant and removed by the Ranger once the line has passed.

Why not honor the existing four way stop and take away the incentive for spending the night in line?

If 99 percent of the visitors get in line and wait their turn, why do some numb-nuts think they can use the 4way stop as an excuse to cut the line? Because they feel not that its the legal thing to do, but because they can use it as if to say, I don't want to wait in line and you all are fools to get up so early to wait! They do the same thing in the water, they drop in on people and then use the line "Its not your beach" and "You don't own the waves", these are the same people who trash the beach and then go back to the trailer park where they live. These are the people who park where they shouldn't and then cry like hell when they get a ticket. Well what goes around comes around.

Since on crowded weekends there are sometimes 200 to 300 cars there when the gate opens at 6 and more arriving every minute it would be a disaster to have everyone honor the 4 way stop. Once word got out that the 4 way is happening, you will see two lines forming. One going under the bridge (as it should) and another lining up the hill and into 45 mph traffic on Basilone. So, you drive up and take a shot as to which line is shorter and get in it. Now if your stuck in line on Basilone on top of the bridge and hundreds of Edison employees are coming to work (as they will during next months outage)at 55 mph, which way makes more sense?

By the way, no one is spending the night in line as the Rangers patrol there until they get off duty between 2am and 3am. Other times depending which guards are working, Edison security keeps people out of the area until 4:30. Sometimes some motorhome dwellers fall asleep. DON'T WAKE THEM UP! QUIETLY DRIVE AROUND THEM! When they awaken after 200 cars have passed them up, they will never do that again!

If 99% of the visitors break the law by parking in line (1) in a posted no parking area (2) that is a through street and arriving before 6 a.m. in spite of the Ranger's warnings and [occassional] ticketing, then that makes them in the right and the guy following proper rules of the road at a four way stop sign in the wrong.

You should all be banned from the beach for life, except puttzle - cause he's funny.

pal gee is the solution.

he should be there directing traffic from 4:30 am until 6:45 am when the last of the line campers get in and the turn around is started.

he should be given his own reserved spot out on the beach in the sand adjacent to the shack at old mans with a little sign "camp host." the shack would be set aside for his parties that celebrate whatever monumentous event that they are celebrating that day -- like my grandbaby made a doodie in the diapie

Remove San Onofre from State Park status. Give it to the Military, let them reserve it for Veterans of War, with twenty year status. This means you were discharged twenty years ago or more. When your twenty years come up you gain access. At the rate of witch Vets are dying, participants would be at a minimum.

The four way stop is one big tar baby.

{{ Associated Press: Gov. apologizes for 'tar baby' remark

Mon Jul 31, 5:17 PM ET

BOSTON - Gov. Mitt Romney has apologized for referring to the troubled Big Dig construction project as a "tar baby" during a fundraiser with Iowa Republicans, saying he didn't know anyone would be offended by the term some consider a racial epithet.

In a speech Saturday, Romney, a Republican considering a run for president in 2008, acknowledged he took a big political risk in taking control of the project after a fatal tunnel ceiling collapse, but said inaction would have been even worse.

"The best thing politically would be to stay as far away from that tar baby as I can," he told a crowd of about 100 supporters in Ames, Iowa.

Black leaders were outraged at his use of the term, which dates to the 19th century Uncle Remus stories, referring to a doll made of tar that traps Br'er Rabbit. It has come to be known as a way of describing a sticky mess, and has also been used as a derogatory term for a black person.

"Tar baby is a totally inappropriate phrase in the 21st century," said Larry Jones, a black Republican and civil rights activist.

"He thinks he's presidential timber," Jones said. "But all he's shown us is arrogance."

Romney's spokesman, Eric Fehrnstrom, said the governor was describing "a sticky situation."

"He was unaware that some people find the term objectionable and he's sorry if anyone's offended," Fehrnstrom said.

Fehrnstrom produced copies of editorials and columns from Boston newspapers using "tar baby" in a context similar to Romney's. One example from 2004, a Herald editorial, used the term about the Big Dig itself.

"It just goes to show you that not everyone is aware the term is considered offensive to some people," he said.

White House spokesman Tony Snow sparked similar criticism in May when he used the term in response to a question about government surveillance. }}

This road thing will become moot with the upcoming dedication of the toll road. With the sweeping two lane offramp to the park, there will be room for all, and Ocifer K (along with Sheriff Bob) will keep confusion to a minimum. OB, of course, will be manning the front during his summer hiatus.

Hey Gibson, I know you've had a few to drink, but can we please stay on topic? If anyone is coming off as an a-hole, it's you, Mel. Another round?
