While on my escape to Bolivia, I stopped by La Saladita near Zihuatanejo for a week. In the water every single morning for 2-3 hours was Corky, still gettin it done with class and joy. He was joking with everyone in the water and kept everything very upbeat. This guy can still surf with the best of them. He is a true ambassador to the sport and lifestyle. He even gave me a wave, saying "go ahead, there's plenty here for everyone".

Skin, Corky carried surfing since the 60's. He is truly one of the last of the great ones, and you can toss in Rory Russell into the mix.
confused, you are right about Rory. Did you see him in the film Chasing The Lotus? If not, watch it.
Rory lived in the shadow of Jerry lopez. He could have been in the spotlite himself. Same for Chayne Horan. He lived in the shadow of Mark Richards. Not a bad job of shadowing though!
Why do you show corky on your blog? He won't ever show his face at San Onofre but he'll send the world there. Did he do any el rollo's?
why would he show up at San-O when he has perfect, no crowd waves right in his front yard?
El Rollo, Jesus H. Christ! Talk about the way back machine! Rory is dead. I believe from drugs? Please correct if wrong? Was there at the time. I don't think shadow is the right word. Some were better than the others and the camera guys and the mags made things that were not! So much for the so called surf media? AHHHHH!
'LOSING INTEREST', El Rollo is a catch phrase Bruce Brown used in Endless Bummer. Now, the older fellows love to use it, so their 'bros' think they're hip. Interest, we're not going to let them fool us are we?
'Silhouette', RU serious? Chayne Horan, Mark Richards, this is the 21st
Century for gosh sake.
EAT MY SHORTS!!!
Woodie, eat it raw says Artie Shaw.
Nice try, but I happen to have been at Corky's services held at Ave. C in Redondo Beach and he was also a personnal friend. Try using the name Anonymous, everyone else does.
Murph, you gots to stay in the frame. Corky is alive and kicking. Geeze, Louise.
If you don't believe, he has an article this Saturday about you.

Ok guys Don't be fooled by the impostor. Like I said he doen't have my picture with his comment! But now I guess the red headed Murphy will raise his ugly head now TOO! Don't be a fool and get fooled.
'Murphy?'should that not read, Murphy, too, with that other triteness involved,...not ending a sentence with the preposition too.
English was never my best subject, but I think everyone knows what I mean. Thanks for trying to help.
And what's the finger nails?
HUH?
LOSING INTEREST IS AN EL ROLLO LIKE TURNING TURTLE?
Icon, no its something that is hard to describe. You need to see the movie "Endless Summer". Corky while riding a wave, sits on the deck almost in a coffin position, then the white water rolls the board over 360 degrees and when it rights itself it spins Corky around to face the other direction while still sitting on his board. Turning turtle is a whole other maneuver.
Murph, you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time. We ain't gonna buy into that Corky Carroll stuff. Sorry.
Gee's, like I never heard that one before. How about "there's no fool like and old fool", or "who's the fool, the fool or the fool who follows him" (or her)? Or maybe "fools rush in where wisemen fear to tread"!
You guys stop fooling around.
Murphie, here's one I'll bet you never heard. "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Well, how 'bout it, Yea or nay.

I have an ugly head?
Red on the head, You're TOO funny! And remember, ugly is only skin deep. (except for anonymous, he's ugly to the bone)
Anonymous, No, but I bet you've heard it quite a bit! How about this one:
"The bearer of bad news, sometimes gets shot"!
Well, how 'bout it, Yea or nay.
I think that the red-haired guy is handsome.
I, too, think that the young, red haired guy is handsome.
Soo many Murphys on this blog, you won't miss me. Gone walkabout.
"The bearer of bad news sometimes gets shot." Murph, where do you find these bon-mots, anyways. I know you know what a
bon-mot is, don't you.
The word is that Rory is still alive and living in Kona? Anyone?
